But then driver seemed to be reluctant to drive off even when the other bus blocked the elephant and was begging the driver to drive off! He put others at risk as well.

The elephant did not attack any vehicle but he only stopped the bus as the driver tried to feed him but the little food was not enough to satisfy the hunger so, the poor elephant started seeking for more.. Animals only reach out to us when they really need our help.

When I was a kid in the 1960's here in American South. People would go to the Smokey Mtns to 'feed the bears' from their cars. It is now illegal due to this very reason! Once they associate vehicles with food, it's a recipe for disaster.

This was not an attack, the driver was giving it some banana peels, so the elephant knew there was more

That bus driver was at fault. First of all he invited the elephant by holding out some food for it. Then when he had multiple chances to drive away, he just didn't move. To make matters worse the passengers kept getting off the bus. This is our Indian habit, if the bus or train stops somewhere people must get out and wander around, otherwise their heads would explode. Feeding an elephant that comes near roads causes habituation in the animal where it will then come deliberately to the road expecting food. Due to certain replies, I'm amending my comments to read - This is our South Asian habit ... 😀

A very good video about Human carelessness. Of course, we must be more careful. in our country, bears are also fed on the roads. it can always end badly.

If that was a "severe elephant attack" then my respect for these creatures just grew even more. The first move the elephant made was a slow walk towards the bus. That was to accept a treat being held out of a bus window for thd guy. Why wouldn't he want more? I watched in awe as this endangered specie (especially w full tusks) gently foraged through the window while people panicked, people screamed, blared horns, gathered in a potentially threatening number of vehicles, simply creating pockets of chaos and confusion. The only calm living being at that scene WAS the elephant. I had tears in my eyes the entire time, thinking about what this great and noble, relaxed and intelligent, neighbor of ours was thinking. Were there memories of murder and loneliness from from a lifetime of loss and retreat? How these animals can view human beings with anything short of deep loathing and resentment is beyond my comprehension. All he wanted was a little more of whatever meager scrap was being offered to him. He and his kind deserve our respect. They're owed our apologies. The least we can do is to share whatever we can with the elephants. Enjoy the time that remains with them. It won't be long before our bus drivers won't have to worry about being stopped in any road, anywhere by them. It won't be long until we send the species into the past, into history, into extinction...

The face, eyes and calm behavior of the elephant proves that it wasn't angry but the relentless searching proves that it was very hungry and since the driver gave those few bananas it thought there would be more inside. He was hungry not angry. Intention was not to hurt any one and he feel he did nothing wrong. He is being fed by buses and cars. This time he just thought to take more than what he generally gets. The truck driver initially gave 2 3 banana as u can see. He just took all of it....😅😅

I think vehicles passing that route should carry sufficient bananas and coconuts. The elephant seemed definitely hungry and looking for food

That driver stopped because he is a Hindu and he and most of the Hindu passengers in that bus believe that the elephants are secret and gods and they should feed that huge animals with a few peices of bananas 🍌 so that the animal will give them it's blessings lol! The problem here is that the animal doesn't know that these stupid Hindus taken him as a god! 🤣👎 These Hindus, with their nonsense believes, have trained these huge animals to come to the highways in the hope to get some food from these stupid Hindus; so, who is to be blamed in this scenario?!

Эта чёртова Шри-Ланка сами приучили слонов бросать им еду из окон машин! Слоны привыклии приходят на дорогу. А этот водитель автобуса--полного людей и детей--так вообще--дал еду и ВСТАЛ, как вкопанный. Продолжай ехать, так нет. Дикое население.Беднота.Там постоянно ЭТО происходит. А слоник не агресивный.Просто вкусняшек захотел. Полно еды для слонов вокруг.Они едят зелень и траву.
