A service plumbers tool bag showcase

This is a guide for apprentices and others who are curious about what a plumber service bag has inside.
Not all tools needed are shown here, this is my set up when I first arrive at a jobsite. This gets me started everytime.

Pretty much you need are 2 knipex cobra pliers and 2 knipex pliers wrenches. Btw the slipjoint style pliers are called alligator, the cobra is with the push-button 😉

Sparky here and I will agree, Knipex makes the best Pump Pliers I will never use any other tongue & groove or pump pliers (channellocks to everyone else) besides Knipex Cobras...I even replaced all my Adj Wrenches with the Knipex Pliers Wrench. Even replaced my Linesman Pliers with Knipex's bc they are the lighest and have the best cutting edge out of Klein, Channellock, Greenlee, Ideal, Etc....

Knipex pliers are really great and I have the same set as you. However, in my opinion, USA channel lock pliers are the best. I made the mistake of falling victim to buying cool high quality, thinking they would work better. They don't. Channel lock gets it done. Love their slip plyers, everything else they mAke is ok.

Knipex by far makes the best pliers bar none. Their needle nose pliers are great also. Also good to see someone else who appreciates the m12 line. My buddies who use m18 seem to think that m12s can’t do the job. Their loss really.

M12 really does a lot of work, at least 80-90% of my work. If you need more power, then M18 is good because of the wider range of tools and more space for there tools. For res + comm service, M12 works because its light, small and overall, plenty of power to get my jobs done. Knipex is my go too. I bought my 1st one back in 2009 and it was the best then, now there even better and more capable.

Not a fan of Stanley. Carpenters use Stanley. Top 5 Tools I'd recommend for Apprentice's would be: Adjustable Wrench, Groove Joint Pliers, Tape Measure, Lenox 6-1 driver set, and a Lenox or Milwaukee torpedo level. Always carry a Black Sharpie for marking. Not Pencil. Regards, a Licensed Master Plumber, Licensed Plumbing Contractor and Licensed Mechanical Contractor.

I've never wore out a tape until I bought a FatMax. After 3 in a year I bought a regular Stanley and the spring is still like new. Instead of pushing it in by hand everytime. FxxK FatMax would be putting it politely.
