There is a fortress above, suggesting this is a postern gate. These were secret doors connected to hidden passageways elsewhere in the fort to be used as "sally ports" for launching quick raids on a besieging force or for a hasty and sneaky evacuation. The door's height off the ground points to access for defenders but not attackers. Since the builders left no information, that would seem to point to a secret - and likely military - use.

  • @reallue

A passage so secret, that not even the castle's occupants knew about em? He says they call it a chamber. That suggests a room, on its own. Altho, if this story is true about a stone door that sealed so well u couldn't tell there was a door there. If that's true, I would start feeling my way around the interior of that chamber to find more secret chambers. Definitely tugging at any coach lights mounted to the walls, pulling back any books on book shelves, yelling "open sesame" in all directions, ya the basic keys to opening all Secret passages. I don't think it's current height was always the case. It looks like there's some considerable erosion in the stone below the door. & bc it looks like there's water below it in some of these pictures, suggests the erosion was from that water, when that body of water rose up to where it looks like it separates the rock. Where it looks like 2 large Megalithic rocks, one sitting atop the other. I bet that's all the same stone. If you'v gone canoeing or tubing in places like the smokey mountains, turkey run, or probably the grand canyon, you'd see that same erosion look is commonly from water

  • @DanLowry-xw3uk

@@reallue As I said. it was a suggestion, not proof. Only a castle's most important occupants would have knowledge of and access to hidden passages. Everyone else, not so much. But why a put chamber that doesn't do anything but just sit there? Why build a room that doesn't connect to other areas? Why construct something that would have people from later centuries wondering what its purpose was? (Enquiring Minds Want to Know!) By "access for defenders but not attackers" I was thinking of rope ladders or climbing ropes. The idea there was water fairly close to the door makes sense, especially in the case of an emergency exit. It would prevent the enemy from completing a circumvallation. That way, small boat hidden in the room could be floated out during a siege.

@@DanLowry-xw3uk Maybe the chamber was a panic room. They did say in the full video that there were passages up to the fortress on top. The hidden door might just of been to escape once the commotion of a siege had died down and the chamber was just to wait for a better time to escape though one would assume that some means of assessing what was happening outside would also be needed. The towers that were common in medieval which gave some cities a skyline similar to modern skyscraper skylines were basically small keeps to be used as safe rooms from criminals and feuding families.

The clues are visible in this video… there are “bricks” (shaped cobblestones) above the “ smooth as an egg” large boulder. A “ facade” was cut from the boulder, and preserved for later use… the “doorway” was cut, and the facade “remnant” replaced. The only question remaining is “why?”… For that, you’d need to ask the architects…

Idk about that. There's no reason to create that stone. Nor do that in a way that requires infinitesimal precision - to create a door that, when closed, fits so perfectly together, that you cannot see any markings the reveal there _could_ be a door there. I've seen that done w/ metal. I've seen hidden passages made w/ wood & drywall. But something like your describing, would be using natural cave formations. This would havta be carved out completely. Which idk how one could do that without advanced technology. Even with that level of advanced technology existing today, that doesn't even mean most ppl, incl myself, even has access to it

Looks like an escape tunnel. I can only imagine that it was designed to be pushed open from the inside. If it was made like i think then its center of gravity would of been perfect enough that you could push it over on its tipping point.

It's not a tunnel. It's just a closed chamber but the insides are smooth like marble. How in the hell did people from way back then do that though. It blows my mind how advanced people from ancient times were.

Imagine thinking this was just a random stone in the forest. Then realizing this is the basement entrance to the structure above it. For those who wanted to see inside, it was just a dehumidifier, a bag of potatoes that started sprouting, and one of those antique metal high chair / step stool things your grandma had.

Ancient civilizations has the technology to mold stone like clay. Im thinking through some kind of resonance technology. Either that or they had recipes for concrete that was formulated to harden just like natural stone.

I truly love all of your videos. You teach me so much. I am 71 years old and I believe that you have to continue learning to live a healthy life. And you teach me in every video you are helping me stay alive by keeping my mental health conditions good. I'm going through chemo at this time and anything that allows me to think or engage my mental acuity is helpful at this time because they're shooting radiation right into my brain. You have become part of my cure. My cancer doctors actually suggested that I try to keep my brain active at this time and to continue to learn. It helps to build pathways in your brain if the radiation is damaging your pathways that the chemicals travel on on your electrical synaptic synopsis patterns in your brain
