I don't know. The machines said they are giving them the chance that humanity never had. I get the feeling that humanity might be quite dead...

I thought "It's about time someone saves humanity instead of the other way around". Nope, human's do it again. I remind myself that it's only a story, and get on with life. I do love a good sci-fi story though.

Love ❤ this! Not at all what I expected! I was expecting an alien civilization ‘helping’ by removing a planets unwanted garbage. This is a better ending! 😊

OH WOW the Ending was the Best and Awesome. Love it love it love it.

Not every ship or tech that lands is a harbinger of doom. Sometimes it's the help so desperatly needed right at that moment. The question is, though. Will they take advantage of the additional time they've been given to develop their space program to let them find sustainable planets? Or will they resume the statue quo that led to their once dire straights? Chapter 2 might answer that question.

Humanity helping those who need it. The one thing never stated was if we let Earth die and as a result we give unasked for assistance so other spieces can live in the stars after the home world dies. Let's face it if we went with traditional methods for contact, the olanet would be dead before they accepted we were there to help.

I felt this way when i first moved out of my city.

Well, pretty good writen, and behaviour of alien benefactors is sooo fun, they do not talk (tough doing it would be more logical) they do not scow civilisation for its failure, do not express any superiority over them. They. Just. Help. Lesson is learned anyway, there is no need for words here. Tough chance of any civilisation reaching this point to screw so badly is fairly small, and even when screwing this badly, they should be capable to manage consequences, after all some types of hydroponics do not require soil, no matter how polluted water is it is still possible to filter it by turning it into vapor and then back to liquid, about electricity, it is a bit trickier, but fission is pretty reliable and renewables, as inefficient as they are, produce energy in acceptable, if a bit underwhelming quantities. Tough they do not have wind turbines? So they likely lack fission as well. Strange, perhaps they stagnated technologically, or they biosphere was particularly fragile, tough that level of polution is not something wich could happen quickly even with this in mind.

Take a good look at our own development. We had sailing ships for thousands of years and yet, the best (Windjammer) were developed when they were already overtaken by steam ships. it shows how little development can happen. Let's say the combustion engine was developed later or not at all? be it because the inventors weren't there or simply some lobby suppressed that development. Don't forget, we had cars that used the steam engine. Consider the ramifications of just a tenth of the cars we have today using steam engines. We would burn so much coal and wood that I wonder if reforestation could keep up. Or consider if the Colonialist powers treated their colonies better. Say, the Colonies never saw a need to rebel and create the USA. We may not have gotten a WWI which was the cause the monarchies were removed from power. What would have done that to our technological development? As bad as pollution currently is, it could be much, much worse. It's impossible to calculate, but how would it be if we had 100 years more pollution from steam engines? The monarchies not caring because they could move out of the cities and escape the dirt. And let's be honest, we are not doing much better right now.

@@Dreamfox-df6bg Wood simply wouldn't be used, it was wildly impracticall, you would need refilling engines too often for it to be really usefull, charcoal also isn't that good as coal, so massive deforestation wouldn't happen more in that scenario than in our situation, were we seized doing it the second we get our hands on mined coal. Monarchies would stay in power longer, but keep in mind that they are not synonymous to rule of fools, sure, some monarchs were just outright dumb, but far from all. Many were pretty genious, or at least good at what they do, how do you think otherwise any empire throughout most of human history would rise? Granted, they proceeded to deteriorate quickly after adoption of total monarchies; system were there were no more things to keep them in check, and they could basically order anything they want, meanwhile before there were limiting factors to it. As much as I think that liberal democracy is the best system out there, it doesn't mean that other ones are automatically nightmarishly bad. They would see it coming, and they would need to lack brains to do nothing about it. We are doing much better, in the first place, we have alternative power sources, be it renewables or fission. Second, we are fully capable of mitigating damage, if not for environment, then at least for our civilisation, hydroponics are incredibly efficient per square meter after all, even greenhouses are one order of magnitude better than open air fields in terms of food production per square meter, water could be purified from anything with modern tech. And all of those things are already in use on bigger or smaller scale, sure, they aren't particularly cheap, but they are managable for more developed countrys. And that all is without the fact that there are extensive efforts to help our environment, as undirected and disjointed as they often are. There is simply no way our civilisation would experience collapse, in fact, entire countries could survive it without much loses. And *that* is in case were we are going to screw this badly. But we are not, we are actually pretty bad at predicting climate changes, after all, climate models basically always are wrong. Don't allow yourself to be scared by flood of haphazard information. If we were to believe in current models, it would indicate that it is already too late and we are doomed, but somehow no one is throwing particularly more money into above mentioned things or space program than before. I am also sure that models changed again, so it is ten years into the future. Few decades ago there was fear of ice age for God's sake! I do not deny that it is happening, I just say that those predictions are incorrect, persons hell bent at saving environment I know had no issue even with outright lies and ignoring of scientific method as long as it is going on the way that climate is changing and it is bad and we will all die. It is important to be very criticall here. That all said, indeed lobbying could slow down technologicall progress considerably, and as bad as world wars were, they had indeed resulted in seismic changes for our society and technology and without them, it is very unclear were we would be today.

Sounds like a guy in a pub that asked for a beer for every half hour of story he could tell. . . . . Obviously no solid script, probably just a few keywords to remind the silvertongue of where he is in the tale and of key points I the story. He didn't even have any solid characters with any kind of substance. Still, WELL DONE, NOT BAD, JUST ILPREPPED. Thank you for your efforts in this production. Appreciated. Is "cartoon tree" a reference to something is is it a normal, literal cartoon tree?

I can think of a few organizations that use tree logos, but it most likely was an attempt to make a recognizable symbol of nature, but since there's no way to tell what any one alien worlds trees or approximation will look like, it takes the absolute basic structure boiled down to a simple form, which would make it look cartoonish.

So, I guess this is an AI voice? Same with the art work? I like these stories. But, I can not do all these 1-15, 22a 22b stuff. I want to read or watch the ENTIRE story. Right now, Im stuck at 23a on your Humans series. Great writing, but all the segments are a drag. Id rather the voice be human.

I can deal with playlists so I can listen while doing something else, but some of their playlists are in bizarre order. So you’re listening and suddenly you are going “Wait, WHAT? When did…” and you realize you’re listening out of sequence. It is absolutely frustrating! 😂
