Trying to build a budget on expenses in KNP per day and that is one subject I can not find solid info on . I do understand that it’s very individual but an idea on prices will be great . Thank you 🙏

    Hi Anat :) Sure, so I'll definitely take into account your suggestion for both fuel and groceries prices within the park for my future Kruger series but for now, I managed to find this info with regards to Kruger Fuel Prices online: www.fueldirectory.co.za/fuel-price1.php?listings_id=7069 With regards to groceries, it is definitely more expensive in the park and you're limited with choice, so it is definitely better to stock up on what you can before you go (freeze your meat in the chalets fridges & take out for every night etc.) but they do offer veggies, supplies such as sauces, alcohol, vegetables etc. and you won't be left hungry.

    I am curious what you think about exploring Kruger on my own. I planned a little Trip this year with Safari, but also hiking and doing stuff aroung Kruger area - but my friend is not so sure anymore so I am thinking about going alone. Now I am unsure wheter I should stay outside the park in Greater Kruger Area and take guided Game Drives or should I just go on my own. Maybe you have tips both inside and outside Kruger Park, where to stay, what to do when you are exploreing this area on your own :) It would be such a help. Beside that I love your blogs and it really makes me wanna go back to Kruger right now (it won't be my first time this year)!!!!

  • @NicoleEddy1

    @NicoleEddy1

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey Eva :) Bummer that your friend won't be joining but it's definitely still worth going alone. If it were me, I'd probably opt to stay in the park and self-drive, and you can always book a guided drive or two when staying at the rest camps in Kruger to get the best of both worlds. For the hiking, did you have any areas in mind? If not, there are many beautiful trails in the Blyde River Canyon which can be accessed easily from Hoedspruit, so it might be worth booking an Airbnb in the town after/before your Kruger trip (it's also right near Orpen Gate so close to Kruger). The Hoedspruit Hiking Club on Facebook might have some fun hikes on while you're there if you don't fancy going alone! I hope that helps!

    @@NicoleEddy1 It sure did help a lot. Thank you so much. Which are your favourite Camps? Which one can you recommend. I've been to two camps already - a huge one and a satellite camp. But it's too long ago I cant even remeber which one it was.

  • @NicoleEddy1

    @NicoleEddy1

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@evamittler5994 The huge one was probably Skukuza, but I love Olifants, Mopani (not much game but I just like the camp) & Shingwedzi is my favourite. Shingwedzi is more up North so it's great if you have some time in the park, but otherwise if you're strapped for time coming from Hoedspruit - Satara & Skukuza are both very central (and extremely game rich), Olifants Camp is perched high on the cliffs above the Olifants River & Letaba is not too far North from Olifants which also offers some great drives along the river. The Southern part of the park is always quite crowded as it's the most accessible area for visitors coming in for short periods of time, still really beautiful but I prefer the quieter parts.

    They can make life real interesting! One year one the dirt track to the Biyamiti camp I reversed more than a kilometer because one grumpy old bugger decided the road is his, finish en klaar. He would trot closer, I would reverse, and every time I stopped he would flap his ears and tune me ISSIIIIIT! Then I would reverse some more. Until he eventually got tired.

  • @NicoleEddy1

    We are definitely lucky, but I guess we also prioritise going there above everything else :) And it helps that Blair has family in the area, so we have a base to stay when we go up. With regards to the hyena & wild dog - they do look quite similar so I can definitely see how you might get confused. Wild Dogs are super scrawny and have big rounded ears, with what looks like paint splashed on their coat and hyena are typically bigger, bulkier with much more pointy ears and have spots on their coat (this species anyway). I hope that helps somewhat :)

    Hi, I am South African living in the UK, i am bringing my wife and inlaws over for a months trip from Cape Town to Durban where i was born, to under burg to finish off in Marloth Park. so my question is we will be entering every day at crocodile bridge. so how early would we need to be at the gate to get in, or is it better to get to the gate about 2 hours after opening? i am surprising them all with one night stay in the safari tents at Lower Sabi. i will do as much as possibly with them but wanted your view on day visitors and how difficult it is vs entering the park from one of the rest camps. Hi Fiona, that's super exciting :) Of course, so I think the prices are roughly around R5500-R5900 per person for the Kruger Wilderness Trails, you can find more info on them here: www.sanparks.org/parks/kruger/tourism/activities/wilderness/about.php. I've only heard amazing things about the Kruger Wilderness Trails,. With regards to rates of activities, it varies depending on 1) the activity & 2) the camp that it is done from. At Skukuza there are 3 drives (morning, sunset and night) and range from R285 (night drive) to R365 (sunset & morning drive). The walks are more pricey at R630 per person. All of these can be booked online, or at the camp when you arrive which might be easier. You can find more info on SANPark activity tariffs from Skukuza Camp here: www.sanparks.org/parks/kruger/camps/skukuza/tourism/tariffs.php
