Øyvin Palm was central to the preventive work during the AIDS epidemic. The HIV virus was life-threatening until well into the 90s, when treatments became available. "Helseutvalget for homofile" did preventive work where attitudes and sexual habits were addressed. Dedicated employees sought out places where men met to have sex. But these places were more than just arenas for sex, says Øyvin Palm.
