A Sailor's Story: Jim & Suzanne. Beginning their sailing adventure

I met a wonderful couple on the gangway, Jim and Suzanne. They recently purchased a 1985 Hans Christian 33 sailboat. Here they reflect upon their dream of owning a sailboat from their first interest in pursuing the dream. We hear about their past, present purchasing of the boat, and their future plans. One interesting aspect is to their enthusiasm about this chapter of their life!
This shows some of the processes of buying a boat, learning the ropes about sailing, and then setting a new course in life.

Shout-out to Captain Bob ! Thanks for making this all happen and having a wonderful boat.
Fair winds and following seas Jim and Suzanne :)

So nice to see you are enjoying the boat. Just for the record I did not "back out". Rather the broker I had her listed with became a jerk and when he let the listing expire I simply did not re-new it. The contract had a 6 month "non-sell" clause, which I let run before selling her. Jim and Suzanne approach me and ask for the right of first refusal which I gave them. When the 6 month passed we got together and I sold them the boat. I liked that boat so much I bought it twice. And much to my good fortune the interim owner invested in some very good gear. I sailed her from Seattle to Long Beach heading for Mexico when Covid shut down everything. I thought we would be in So Cal for 2 months. It turned out to be two years, during which time the plan changed. The Hans Christian 33T is, in my opinion, the best all around sailboat under 40 feet for cruising. Those built from 1980 to 1987 were built by the Hansa yard perhaps the best of all the Far East builders of the era. Those built after 1987 are good boats but not of the same quality. Currently, I own a Contest 38s which is a high quality Dutch built boat. She faster than the HC33T but not as near livable; no stall shower and a smaller galley, but still comfortable. Thanks, Pete for the video. It was fun to watch.
