I was so happy to see the reunion with Charlie's family! Judging by his ecstatic reaction, it's clear that they love him and take good care of him. During the first half of the video, I was certain that this was a case of pet abandonment. Seeing him go crazy over his owners was the best part, glad to know he had a loving family out looking for him. And they learned to keep his collar on him/chip him to (hopefully) prevent this from happening again. Must have been some serious separation anxiety (or pent up energy) for him to chew his way through a screen door.

Ordinary window type screen is not very strong and is easily torn. It would be safer to put a layer of heavier mesh on the outside against the screen. Cats are more likely to tear screen but a dog can do the same if he wants a closer look at something outside.

Two of my dogs went for a ‘walkabout’ while I was at work yesterday. They had gotten out and thank God someone I know saw them running down the very busy road and called me immediately so that they could be found. They’re both microchipped and one had a collar with my number on it just in case. Not the first time one of them escaped. The big boy actually knocked out the kitchen window twice and kept over bushes in front of it to ‘freedom’! I’m in the process of moving and when I get settled, there isn’t any escape route in the new place! All of my dogs are rescue fur babies that we’ve rehabilitated. All it takes is a little love and patience. If every person adopted one or two dogs or cats from shelters and spay/neutered them, the shelters would be empty. And let’s close down puppy mills! Adopt, don’t shop. Thanks for all you and the Hope for Paws crew does to help all the animals that you can! Cheers!

It was amazing to note that his family were found given no microchip was present. So many dogs are lost forever or even euthanised because of the lack of this very important chip so this is a miracle in every aspect. Microchips play a vital role in identification should situations like this arise. That way, a much loved family member can be reunited. Great rescue and fantastic outcome. Love these happy endings.
