You left out the most important part! Eric's girlfriend of three years, Charlotte Martin, came to stay with the Harrison's after she and Eric had a fight. During this time George and Charlotte had an affair. Both Patty and Eric knew of this and this is what initially bonded the two. Everyone thinks that Eric was the bad guy here and that George took the upper road but this is not really the truth of the matter.

I don't believe this happened, but MAN it would have been awesome!!😂 These two guys have always been my favorite players. I am 55 and have a wall in my apartment dedicated to them to this day. It has paintings and lyrics now instead of posters like my bedroom and dorm walls at an earlier age.

Heard interview with Harrison himself. He said he was glad they got together because his marriage was over and he didn't want to hurt her and look bad. So enough blaming Clapton. George was fooling around regularly. I love them both just tired of all the Clapton bashing.

Well said she knew what she signed up for. George was my favorite but like his wife Olivia said women loved George and George loved the women. Clapton has been over bashed. None of them were angels. That's rock-'n'-roll.

This story actually sounds epic. Alas, my love I developed for my kazoo-playing friend's wife will probably not make one of your videos, though I wish you could see it in your heart. I learned to play a mean kazoo, but he was toothless which gave him a decided advantage. Any musical hockey goalies will know what I'm saying. Just hang out at an NHL arena after hours and you'll know. His wife actually had one tooth left, so she left the kazoo playing to us. I did the same dirty trick and gave him the inferior kazoo. Actually, you didn't need to be a fly on the wall, they were pretty thick on all of us since none of us had showered in days.

Now who is she? She's a dried up lonely ex of both. GH had no balls at all. That is what happens when you write women love songs. They start to believe that they're all that and play around behind your back, with your best friends no less. GH should of stopped that before it started. "I'm a Beatle! I am a Beatle! You think you can do better than me!?" "Best of luck! Clapton's well on his way to being a full blown junkie, good luck with that!" "Leave your keys to the house and the Bentley I gave you on the desk and hit the street!" "I'll have a half dozen that look just like you here in 15 minutes!" Don't ever write women love songs!

I bet that idea of the jam being some kind of deadly duel is just someone's perception that became popular myth. For a start, Harrison must have known that challenging Clapton to a contest would have been suicidal. Both Clapton and Harrison were aware of how The Beatles touring years had a negative impact on Harrisons development as a guitarist. More likely is that the atmosphere in the room became wordlessly intense, and George felt that the best way to resolve the tension was to communicate the feeling musically. For some musicians, music is recognised as a way of communicating telepathically, expressing the Inexpressible. It pisses me off - whenever the music gets intense or there's a guitarist reaching for the "zone", there's always somebody who thinks that it's all pretentious, or that it's "taking itself too seriously" and that egos are getting out of control. Lol.

Clapton comes out of this as selfish and arrogant. He’s lucky George was so magnanimous and loved him as a friend. That they continued to be fast friends is remarkable, and a tribute to George Harrison, in my opinion. The great Stevie Wonder wrote, “All In Love Is Fair,” and certainly this tale confirms that. Well, it’s only rock and roll, right?

I committed the error of not watching the video through before posting - you did mention the passage I was thinking of from the article - and I scrolled down to edit or delete my comment, but you've already replied! At any rate, I take your point; there very likely was tension between EC and GH during that period. Crazy watching them "duel" at the end of WMGGW at Madison Square Garden are year or so later. I like the sound check performance of "Come Into My Kitchen" before the concert even more - you'd never guess that this was going on behind the scenes.
