A few tips for you deady, store you’re water drum on top of the exhaust catwalk all day, then You will have warm water to have a wash on an evening, also keep an open bottle of water in the footwell it will keep moisture in the air and stop the night heater drying your mouth out while you sleep 👍🏻

Fair play to all the trampers, as a class 1 driver I decided to stayed on local class 2 as i like my own bed too much & Finding somewhere to park and a restless noisy night wasn't for me. Great video showing the "average" 15 hour day . Enjoyed.

I often watch the videos Deady but I rarely comment. I still find you're passion for the job infectious and I think it's great you take a break for the reasons you have given. Also good call on the folk who say they would do it differently / do it better. I'm 3 months into my driving after 20 years of a desk job and these days I look forward to Monday's. I'm a grumpy old bastard though so I quite like being on my own for the day :-) which means it suits me pretty well. I'm also not doing loads of nights out so I manage to balance the family stuff nicely. Carry on as you are mate, the videos are a joy to watch.

Just watched your vlog “you’ll only ever drive vans” that you did a while back. Have been watching your vids since you started them. At that time I had just passed my class 2, around 2 months before you did. Gotta say Gareth you are by far the best vlogger I have watched on KZread. You give great content and real life situations on the road. You seem to be like me, a real people pleaser but sometimes you have to put your foot down (so to speak) and say no more to these people that criticise you. You have done that pal and have achieved what you set out to do. Keep up the great stuff you are doing. You have a fellow trucker behind you all the way. From Tom J.

Good to see you back Deady, and sorry to hear you've been having a few problems. If you need to spend more time with the family when you get home at the end of the week, then that is exactly what you must do. Family first, work and stuff to do with work much further down the list. On this job, over the years I've been doing it, there's no shortage of people to tell you how you should do it, or your way's wrong. You hit the nail right on the head, and I loved what you said about, if they don't like the way your showing how to do something, then go and make a video of their way. I've been driving a bit longer than you, when I first learned to do things, the kit we used was a bit different, so of course newer drivers will do things slightly different to the routine we do. There's nothing wrong with watching how someone else does something differently, may pick up a few tips for when situation demands. You're a good lad Deady, and if I saw you out and about, I'd want to come up and shake your hand, not coz your a celeb but because your a downright decent guy that makes good and helpful KZread content about something I also do and am interested in. Regards to yourself and the family, David.

Thanks for the videos Deady. Just keep doing what you're doing, it's your channel, and if people don't like anything, they can go watch something else. I get what you mean about the job being boring. I drive for an organic fruit and veg farm doing multi drop in a van, I do the same 4 routes each week (Tuesday - Friday) and it bores the hell out of me, I know all 400 drops a week without the need of a satnav and it's monotonous. Hopefully in the next few months I'll be getting my class 2 licence as I want to be on the road more, and not be in and out of a van a hundred times a day. Look forward to the next video. 👍👍

Hi Deady. Im not a trucker. I just enjoy watching your video's. I've learned a lot by watching them. That's why if I write a comment, I just say I like it. It's not for me to chritasise how you drive the truck as I don't know the first thing about driving one. If it wasn't for truckers we'd be in a right mess. Don't think some people realise that. I watched this by chance and its funny that I started recognising the roads. That's Wrexham where I grew up. I also agree with you that roundabouts are dangerous in hgv. I swear, 50% of car drivers have no clue how to navigate a roundabout, especially moreso if there are more than 2 lanes.

Brilliant video my man! I've been binging on your vlogs for a good while now as I'm pretty much certain that I want to begin a career as a HGV driver. I did used to drive buses but came away from it due to the hassle from the general public kinda fucking with my mental health, getting yelled at, threatened and told to kill myself a couple of times by people that were angry over such trivial things. But the driving part was fine. My favourite days were the ones where I'd just be taking buses out of service to different depots so I think becoming an HGV driver would be the best step for me and your videos have given me so much insight into it. Thank you so much man! All the best to you!

I have meet bloke driving car transporter who was 23. He started with a ridgid from age of 19. I am 21 and doing my licence, so it's possible but, believe me its not a job for someone reckless (young). I have done driving as a job for past year but it wasn't lorries so I am bit anxious and other most important thing is insurance and experience. 1. Most companies won't insure you until you are 25. Experience is hard to gain as it's harder to find a job due to young age, you take whatever job is given to you and gain experience before you can look for something better. Like some some other chap advised you, look for other profession until mid 20s.

Best of luck to you mate, I am 21 soon and in exactly the same position as you. I had a absolutely fun job but things turned bad when I nearly beat the crap of bullying supervisor. I wanted to do the licence for class 1 or 2 anyways and if not for me quiting my job I would probably delay that for too long. If you enjoy driving then this job will be great for you. If I can give you advice look for trunking jobs, refrigerator units are good, usually short distances between depos or 3-4 hrs one way and back. I know people who work 9-11 hrs tops a day and they get bloody good money for that. (it takes time to find such a job, but it's possible ). Entire qualification for Class 1 including class c exams medicals etc would cost you £2400-£2700. (loan in my case) Depending where you find your course. 3month in one go and you could have class 1.
