John Romita Sr came from era where you could draw attractive men & women in comics without today’s decedent critics, RIP to a legend.

I think you mean 'decadent.' A decedent is the term for the corpse in a murder trial.😋

I have a gigantic Spider-man poster from the 70’s signed by both Romita Sr. and Romita Jr. Great family.
Razor already said it, but it can't be overstated how much the comic book industry (all entertainment, really) suffers from the lack of people like Romita Sr. The guy had an immense amount of talent with only the tiniest amount of pride. RIP you absolute legend.

@@user-nx1we5gu3b I definitely have a few ideas for my own comics, one a slice of life comedy and one an action-drama-thriller. Problem is I'm too tired from two part-time jobs and a full-time job of taking care of my kitten.
I’ve known John Romita’s name since I was ten years old. Absolute legend. Romita arguably had as much to do with the enduring look and flavor of Spider-Man as Ditko.

In the same way as I hear Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy's voices whenever I read a Batman comic, Romita's is the Spider-Man I carry around in my head.

I'd say Ditko defined Spider-Man (and his various Rogues) but Romita defined Peter Parker and HIS cast. Look at Peter himself, as well as Gwen, MJ, the Osbornes - all of them come almost directly from his work almost 60 years ago.

Farewell to a living legend.
Romita is my favorite artist of all-time. RIP
OH BOY! Another RazorFist vide..."Tribute to John Romita Sr."...oh. Bitter sweet.
Too many old legends are dying out with far too few new ones to replace them. Here's to hoping for a new generation of Romitas somewhere in the future.
I didn't know he passed. Dammit. His art was great; his work ethic was awesome; and he apparently raised a good boy...I don't know what else to say. RIP Jazzy John.
If Lee and Ditko were the father's of Spider-Man, Romita Senior is undeniably the Webhead's Godfather. Rest in Peace legend
A true man without fear...Rest in Peace Mr. Romita
Correct me if I’m wrong but Romita was the last of the major figures of the OG marvel bullpen. Regardless, his passing feels like the end of an era. It’s the work done between him and his son that made Spider-Man my favorite hero to read. My heart goes out to Romita Jr. RIP
John Romita Senior... Cormac McCarthy... Sad day indeed. Rest in peace you legends.

Requiescat In Pace, John Romita Sr. May your incredible spirit pass through the Gates of St Peter😔🙏 He will never be replaced. 2023 sucks. It really sucks.
As a comicbook maniac in the '60s and '70s, I respected Ditko's and Kane's work on Spidey. But it was Romita's artistry and storytelling that took the characters to the next level. He was a true silver age legend, and his art, still used to this day on promotional items, is instantly recognizable.
Fair winds and following seas, Mr. Romita.
Another Titan of comics has left us. Thank you for everything you've given us
Ive worked a few conventions for Romita Jr. The number of fans who asked him to pass their regards to his father warmed my soul.
I remember meeting him at SDCC sometime around 95 or 96. He was signing with his son. Both very pleasant people and enjoyed talking to the fans.

The men who made comics what they were. No amount of fan servicey dreck that modern Marvel can come out with can equal a tenth of the passion and creativity Romita contributed to the medium. Thank you for raising awareness for this artist.

John Romita's first superhero work was in 1954 with my personal favorite Marvel staple, Captain America in the short-lived (only 3 issues) but woefully underrated "Commie Smasher" run. And let me tell you, John Romita Sr's skill was every bit as present drawing Captain America throwing around soviet agents as it was many years later when he would be brought onto Daredevil.
Such a legacy for a single family to have to have a father and son define their generations of comics
A true artist who will be missed. The Iron Age will honour him.
Dear John, You are the reason I have spent a significant amount of hard earned money on Amazing Spider Man omnibuses. Love you, miss you. Rest in Peace. -an eternal fan
Great artist. In my opinion, THE Spiderman artist.
He'll be missed 🥰
May he forever rest in power.
John Romita Sr. was one of inspirations of Bob Newhart's character in Bob, where he plays a classic age comic book writer/artist.
May he rest in the halls of comic Valhalla with the rest of the comic legends that have passed on as well.
Rest in peace, no words, just respect to the man.

This was a very moving tribute to a good man. We lost a good one. Thank you for this send off.
Given how much of a Spider-Man stan I am, this is heartbreaking. I've heard about this legend for years, and I can't thank him enough for what he did for the Wall-Crawler.
I was excited for three videos in two days, but this hits hard.
I respect Romita as the legend he is, but I grew up in the '70s with Ross Andru as my Spider-Man artist, and he will always be the definitive Spidey artist to me.

Man, I’ve watched that Comic Greats video with Romita Sr and Jr so many times! Hilarious and inspiring! An absolute fantastic artist and one of many people that helped and inspired me with my own work in fiction and art. Godspeed Romita Sr.
R.I.P. John Romita Sr. Your work indelibly etched my imagination.
Loved Romita's work. So many great artists in the past, really. Nice tribute!
In the end it doesn't matter artists like John Romita Jr. aren't loved by the activists to quick to point discrimination as their success instead of the long hard work and love for the medium; because still there is a genuine joy in opening old issues or the masterwork editions and read their stories with the same excitement and dynamism that today teens would believe is something only existing in manga. A productive life inspiring many readers is such a giant accomplishment.
R.I.P. to a legend and but respect to Razor for not only paying tribute, but also using the criminally underrated theme song from Spiderman the Animated Series. A show as underrated as its awesome theme.
I was very lucky and privileged to meet John Romita Sr. and Jr. at a Wonder-Con in Oakland in the late 90’s. He and his son were doing sketches for charity. I got two sketches from Sr. and two from Jr. Both of them were extremely nice and gracious. Mr Romita Sr. talked to me for a long time. He signed every comic I had with me and he told me a story about the first Spider-Man comic he drew after Ditko left and he signed my copy of it as well. John Romita Jr was also incredibly cool and answered every one of my questions about his drawing style and how he would never be as good as his father. All in all I was thrilled. So sad to hear about Mr. Romitas passing, but what a legacy he’s left behind for all of us.
RIP. I can't believe we lost another. JRS was a comicbook legend.
God bless the Romita family. Such a tremendous loss. Comic fans will never forget you Senior!
For a lot of people John Romita Sr.'s art is what they think of when they think of comics. I hope the man rests well and his family finds peace.
Romita Sr and Roy Thomas were the artists who made me fall in love with comics. It is truly a sad time for all comic fans. God speed good sir, your work will live eternal.
Mr. Romita Sr. Is a glance from an age where marvel comics were made by truly talented and hard working people. This tribute gave me so much catharsis and inspiration to be better
RIP to John Romita Sr he was so accomplished and an absolute legend both in terms of his output and his dedication, my condolences to his family especially his son
It's a sad day when a legend passes. Few of his calibre have risen to prominence in recent years. His work will always be a favorite.
Rest in Peace, may his legacy live on forever.
Romita was so great. So many iconic images and characters came from his pencil and pen. It's for the best that Romita moved from Daredevil to Spiderman. We got Romita's great run on Spidey and Gene Colan's wonderful Daredevil run. The less said about Waid the better.
Truth. He was my favourite before I even knew his name. Quintessential comic artist.
I absolutely love Romita, Sr.’s work. My memories nearly 100% of the time about comic books go back to his artwork. There just wasn’t anybody in the industry with more clarity, consistency and fluidity than John Romita. We’re losing them, guys. In fact, I think this just put the cap on it. Godspeed, John Romita, Sr.
RIP to a legend.
John Romita Sr. and John Buscema are two of the best, if not the best examples of how to be expressive with pen and ink. Bold and powerful. As an amatuer artist myself, I get more schooling just studying their work and how they solved problems than any lessons or books out there.
I didn't even know he was sick. Rest in peace.
The first comic I bought at 8 years old was penciled by Mr. Romita Sr. The Amazing Spider-Man Annual 12: Spidey vs The Hulk, published on May 02, 1978. A true inspiration who I can’t thank enough. Rest well Mr. Romita Sr.
The old guard is either dying, or living long enough to see themselves become the villain. Good thing Razor and Rippa are here to take the mantle.
I met John Romita Sr. back in 1998 in San Diego. I was the last guy in line and he autographed my Amazing Spider Man #39. I got to talk to him for about 5 to 10 minutes, he was a class act and a gentleman. Todays pros should take lessons from the old school guard like Romita. R.I.P.
There is something to be said about the man who takes his skill, combines it with passion, and pours himself into something he deems worthy of those things. And look what happened when he did that he forever changed an entire genre in medium of pop culture forever.
Adams, Perez, Romita Sr. My heart breaks a thousand times… but what a legacy …. Thanks man …
Our loss may be great, But heavens gain is the sweeter. For when we walk through the gate, just within St. Peter's reach within you will see comics penned by Stan Lee and inked by this legend, always the 1st of its edition, and always puts a smile on your face as the final page is read. Though we have lost you here sir, may your find that drink to perfection, smokes always cheap, your pens just perfect and may all your feiends that preceeded you throw your a welcome party that shake the pillars of heaven. Lifetime achievement gained. Excelsior.
It appears to be celebrity season for the reaper again. And this was an unexpected loss. RIP Mr Romita. Your drawings were what defined true comic art for me. I've never been an avid comic book reader in my childhood. But when I did get access to any comics that drawing style was always a sign of quality to me. And now I know why.
Seeing the Gladiator pages brought back my childhood love of Daredevil. Not the adult love I learned from Miller, but the first love a kid gets from seeing that hot girl at the ice cream counter, or when you notice the girl next door. He was that good and I didn't even realize it.
It's crazy, Romita Sr. was such a legend for Spider-man and this week I just started getting back into Spider-man not realizing what happened. Like some force pulled me back in. *RIP* Romita Sr, your work is legendary and will live on.
One of my top 5 FAVORITE artists! Of the 5, only one remains... Garcia-López
Admittedly I haven't checked out everything he's done, but I'm aware of the work he did and his reputation. Plus without him, characters like Wolverine, Punisher, Luke Cage, and so much more wouldn't exist or even have come to life without his touch. Excellent tribute video to a legend, good sir. 😊
The best after Steve Ditko. He brought a lot of joy, and respected the character while doing so. A great custodian. Rest well sir.
It's saddening to see the loss of such monumental talent. Especially in an era wherein modern comics has a complete lack of talent.
Never knew his name until now, but I always loved his work.
Giants once walked the Earth, and sadly we will never see their like again.
Beautiful tribute. Made me tear up.
Before his death, he was the greatest living comic book artist in my book. We've lost so many greats recently, and we're no longer getting new ones.
As always, Razor, a class act in honoring Mr. Romita. Thank you.
As I've learned more and more about the industry during the times of legends, Romita Sr. has been consistently mentioned as THE guy, usually in the same breath as The King Kirby. It seems as though wil Romita Sr.s death, not only the silver age has officially ended but the age of pegends as well. RIP Mr.Romita, your legend is eternal but now I hope you can rest and join your friends and family in the great ever after.
I really miss romita's work. Silver age art had a charm that new comics for all their hyper realism can't match. It was a style that could inspire rather than overwhelm. It was a style aspiring artists could imitate and use as a basis for their own styles.
Not "just" a pillar, utterly foundational.
ive always wondered why the older daredevil comics looked different. i was, and still am, an avid spiderman fan. but its great to see how it all began. and my lord, that ending them kicked me right in my nostalgia. well played sir. 😂
