A Rare Photo of ME and More - ASMR

Ойын-сауық

Relax and drift off to sleep as I relax at my desk and show you a miniature replica of a zippy little car my grandfather used to drive. I'll also show you a photo of me.
My videos are best enjoyed using headphones or earbuds.
This is video number 551 of this channel.
The videos on my KZread channel portray some of the typical day-to-day activities that I do for relaxation. This video was produced with relaxation in mind and hopefully has some ASMR qualities. Too much stress is harmful to your well-being and in today’s fast-paced world, stress management is more important than ever, and so I hope this ASMR video acts as a stress reliever for those watching and a sleep-aid for anyone having a difficult time falling asleep.
If you enjoy my videos and feel like you get something of value from them, you might consider becoming an official “patron” of my channel over at my Patreon page. Been a longtime viewer. From freshman year of high school to now, just starting out my life with my first little apartment, I’ve struggled mightily with insomnia. This has been one of the channels I’ve watched a good bit to help ease the mind. Lost my mother suddenly last year. It’s been a tough one for me as well. Genuinely rooting for you these days through these tough times and am thrilled any time you find the time to upload. Much love.

When I went off to college in 1979, my dad bought me a new, 1979 Buick Opel. At that time the Opel was being made by Isuzu and sold through Buick dealerships. It was a 4-speed manual, 1.9 liter engine, no options on mine. I remember the price was $4,300 on the sticker. Drove it for a little over 20 years. A "plain Jane", for sure, but got me everywhere I needed to go. Thanks, dad!

My grandparents drove a pair of small (but probably midsize at the time) Oldsmobile sedans. Nothing fancy, just typical early 90s FWD GM automobiles. Fun fact: Opel's last automobiles to be sold in the US were rebaged as Buick Regals. I have an Opel wagon, or estate as it's called in Europe, as my daily driver.

My grandfather drove a cream coloured BMW 2002 for many years (the car I remember best; I have a nice model of it sitting on my desk among my 1/43 scale car collection). He was a judge, had been in WWII and would often take me for long walks to a war memorial near where my grandparents lived back in the day. On these walks he always explained all kinds of interesting stuff to me (from tanks to interesting cases he'd had up to the moon landings - a bit like in your videos) while smoking his cigar. I loved these endless summer afternoons with him. I also remember his study full of file folders from court and the cigar boxes stacked in the shelves. The place smelled of leather chairs and smoke (but in a good way). Now, decades later, I own a classic BMW myself and at least once a year drive it out to the town where my grandparents lived to visit their grave and pay my respects. Then I go for the same walk we always went for and enjoy a cigar at the same war memorial, remembering these great days of my childhood. I'm sure my grandfather would have liked this tradition of mine and I hope that he somehow "knows"... 😌

My grandma & grandpa drove the stereotypical old person cars, nothing super cool. The first car of theirs I remember was a 1988 Ford Crown Vic, which was followed by a 1994 Buick Regal, and the last car they owned before passing was a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis. Neat Opel! That's one I've never seen before - my 8th grade social studies teacher had a 1960s Opel GT, which always looked like a mini-Corvette to me.

That's a bunch of neat stuff that you have from your grandfather. My grandfather was a machinist with several companies from the 50's through to the 80's, most notably he worked for US Motors in Connecticut. He was given an award by the plant manager for coming up with a 5 dollar solution to a million dollar problem along with a $3,000 bonus for his idea. Back then that was a lot of money! I've still got newspaper clippings of him shaking hands with the plant manager, and I still have a lot of his old tools. After US Motors left Connecticut he became a mechanic, working on both gasoline powered cars and diesel powered tow motors for several different companies. I still use his tools 50 years later to work on my own cars!

The cracking paint might be fixable... though it's probably best to leave it be. In order to fix it, you'd have to compound it, and then polish it. It's relatively easy to do, but on something so delicate, a lot can go wrong.

In 1991 he got an Opel Astra, then in 2001 he bought a newer version of the Astra. Then roughly in 2014 he tried a Fiat 500X, but he was super unhappy with it, so he got the newest version of the Astra last year. And the only car my grandmother (his wife) ever drove was an Opel Corsa.

My grandparents had a few cars over the years. Chevrolet Caprice, Lumina, Malibu. Buick LeSabre. The "boring" cars as you say 😄

Just finished watching your Packers beat Kansas City. Merry Christmas! Edit: my grandpa worked construction and drove a 68’ El Camino SS all over jobs sites out west and in the south.

My biological grandfather on my mom’s side passed when she was 7 or 8, but I still have some things from when he served. Mostly random sketches of the atom bomb mushroom cloud, but nothing on his car.
