A Race in the Rain to pick up our Lucky Patrons (Sailing La Vagabonde) Ep. 108

Riley always talks about how the only thing that should be dictating your sailing plans, are the weather and repairs. When you have a schedule to keep, more often that not, things just don’t like to run smoothly. We would have loved to hang out in Bonifacio and wait for the rain to stop, probably rug up inside and watch a few movies. But no, join us for soggy clothes and wet hair on our way down to Sardinia. However, we’re extremely excited to meet James and Destiny and to show them what it’s all about!!

    The singing session today was enjoyed by me and a few nurses I showed in the austin cancer center where I am mid way through the chemo. Your adventures are very calming. That walk up the steps will keep you all in shape. Keep those buns burning. I look forward to sailing again although it will be on either a cat at club med turks & Caicos or a big fun cat in cozamel. love your vids and the Swimming Pool song on your album really caught me today. It has a unique beat that you sing to perfection. Funny I was listening to that song and then the beep came in that you were live. What a treat. Made me smile and tap the beat. Thanks for your shooting great video and taking all that time to edit.

    Taylor, now some episodes further and indeed after trial and error, I must agree that the camera work have improved in quality.. but the fancy pancy cinematics are not the only part of the mix and not only why people (me included) were longing for the older videos. The cinematics can be top nodge but what changed is the personal feeling of the videos. the feeling you can endearingly live along with the adventures, see a glimps in their lives and live through them what all of us cant. Although that element is still a bit part of some of the new videos.. it mostly now turned into the fancy pancy cinematics and story telling.. it creates a more shallow connectability. And this is what people are referring to. And as Matthew commented here below.. it didnt have to change.. if it aint broke! Instead perhaps add new different content but leave the old ones for the ones that join in to that. et voila, problem caused is solved ;)

  • @nitramjc1

    @nitramjc1

    Personally, I do not agree and find all of the new stuff even more endearing as well as informative. But that is why we have pants in more than one color, right? We got the fancy, we got plain, the tough, the ribbed, etc. All good :)

  • @OohzyJohnDow

    @OohzyJohnDow

    Happily Retired, which is your full right. I didnt say that the new fancy pancy style cant or shouldnt exist. I am only putting light on the matter that there clearly has been a let down core of followers that joined on to the lovely connectable private feel of living along that they got through the older style videos. You like the new one and as i said, good on you and I can even tell you that I do not dislike it, but I do miss the old feel. The only difference is.. people who like the new style have the new style.. people who do not like it, have nothing ;) and that is the basis of all those discussions.

    You guys are looking chilled in your videos as summer is over and the weather is changing and it will probably affect you. But thats fine. There is something so beautiful about the heat of mid summer and the days in the water and the sunsets. It affects your mood, your humour etc. But as winter comes you will feel more chilled. Dont feel pressured to be any different on video, we all understand. This was good. P.S 160 a night at that Marina is cheap - some mega boats / bucks there.

    Yea, Riley good point about the frustrations of mono-hulls keeping a tack in fluky winds. We end up motoring here in the PNW because of it. There are only a few times when you absolutely know you can hold a tack, even then it's with a lot of constant adjusting.Great video!!!

    My goodness that is a steep walkway up to the castle! Once up there I'd probably be to pooped to look around but it is a beautiful structure. I wonder how many years it took to build. The drone film of that area was just awesome. I fine it really neat that Elayna gets right out into the cold and rain and works alongside Riley. That was an interesting talk that Riley gave on the differences of sailing in those conditions between a monohull and a catamaran. I'm guessing he meant the monohull would heel to far if it wasn't reefed where the cat could handle the pressure for a while and so would not need to reef. This was a interesting video....thank you guys!

    Nice to see a saiing video, I know that frustration of gusty wind, too. I wonder if some of the expense for a slip there has to do with the extra width of a cat. Traditional slip charges are based on length, but a cat can take two slips so it would not be a surprise to see higher cost.

    If you love that Castle you’ll fall in love with Dubrovnik in Croatia!! One of my old, favourite places in Europe :))

    You guy's have actually been a huge inspiration to our adventure! We wanted to travel around New Zealand but weren't sure on how to do it then my dad mentioned that I should check out your channel and there and then it hit us. This is how we should do it! So since then we've been so keen to save up as much as we can and got out to New zealand and buy a small boat! We already have the tickets! If you're interested, check out more in our channel. We've just started so lot's to improve. Thank you! P.s That looks so amazing! This word is used alot in this video, but surely there is no better way of describing this!
