1:17 Biggest MYTH! There is/was NO such "credits" in cassettes/CDs. Percussionist is/was, perhaps, day-dreaming, like actor Chandrasekhar in Madai thirandhu song (Nizhalgal movie)! If at all Arr credited some names in an obscure CORNER of the label*, it is ONLY BECAUSE artists' INPUTS / ideas (12:40 what 90% of musicians, who worked with Arr, usually say! :-P) were "incorporated" into "his" music (*similar to movie end credits which no one bothers to read)! 18:22 As if Ilayaraja, MSV, KVM etc. have not used Thavil in melodies! IR has used Urumi even in romantic songs! There is no innovative rhythm here; nothing IR has not used! Deva, notorious for his plagiarism, has even COPIED IR's rhythm patterns in songs like the lousy item number in Kushi (Aasai adhigam vechu rhythm!).

Yes, Deva was a good composer, but it was ALWAYS Deva-Sabesh-Murali team, unlike IR who takes care of the composition from start to finish. He was also notorious for plagiarism, and his "original" compositions are FEW and far in between. Aasai is his best work; STILL, no competition for an IR composition! In 1999 interview on Sun TV, the anchor asked him about his copied songs! He simply laughed it off (sirichu mazhuppified)! He could not even justify it! To think more, his shelf life was ~10 years. Actually today's so-called music directors' output is so awful that it makes people take the reverse gear to go back to the 90s, or even early 2K; it makes many people feel that even the average songs of that period, sound better than today's cacophony!
