"Lord Dracula! A Belmont is storming our castle! What do we do?" "Roll giant eyeballs at him! He will not expect that!"
Man, the Belmont's Revenge tunes on the Gameboy sound chip are such bangers!
Tired of the Castlevania content? Nah! Keep it coming!
I can kind of see Erin as a sprite in a Metroidvania Castlevania game.
The second one is one of my favourite Castlevanias ever, I played it endlessly as a kid. I used to finish it just to listen to that amazing end theme. I didn't even know there was a third one until about a year ago. And I didn't know there were GBC remakes until right now! There was also a Wii Ware remake of the first CV Adventure by M2, but that's lost to time now with the Wii eShop shut down. Hopefully it resurfaces on a collection at some point.
The Belmont's walk like they are power walking haha!
The Plant Castle theme in Belmont's Revenge is one of the best Castlevania themes ever!
I have great memories playing Castlevania Adventure. It was so much fun on my brand new Gameboy. I recently heard The end music "The Legend of Dracula" for the first time since I beat it nearly 30 years ago. The nostalgia was too powerful, and I cried. It got me.
And to add just a couple things about Castlevania Legends, although you can't use sub-weapons in this game, you can use magic spells, you get one every time you defeat a boss. Secondly, Sonia Belmont has a unique ability to turn herself completely invincible (for a short period of time), once per life by pressing the a and b button simultaneously. Making this Castlevania game, the easiest one of all time.

Oops... I guess I should have read the comments before commenting this same thing just now... Next time, read Bard!
Castlevania for the gameboy brings back good memories from the road trips I had with my dad to Mexico !
Belmont Revenge for the win. Was the best gameboy game i had in for the longest time. The music kicks ass so much. Its done kinda subtlely, but the first four levels are pretty much making you learn essential skills. Jumping gaps, how ropes work, how to make the most of your sub weapons, how to deal with this and that. it basically gives you one thing to learn at a time in a situation that makes sense for it. then when the four castles are completed its really on. Everything you learned is put to the test. I killed so many double As on my big dumb gray gameboy playing this game. It stands as a good example, like with Links Awakening, full games with full experiences were possible on the gameboy.
Castlevania the adventure was my first Castlevania. The music on it is some of the best.
I owned Belmont’s Revenge for the gameboy and played the hell outta it back in the day ! You Rock Erin !
I had the original on Gameboy and loved it. I consider Castlevania Legends to be "cannon". I know that some debate this, but it looks and feel like a Castlevania game (minus not being able to use subweapons), and Sonya is still a true Belmont in my heart and beautiful.
Clearly Dracula got a bunch of giants and ripped out one of each of their eyes, turning them all into cyclops.
Good job on beating Castlevania III, Glad you are highlighting the Game Boy ones!
I can never get tired of Castlevania content! 😊
Dam, I remember these from way back. They've actually aged very well despite their obvious limitations. These need HD remasters! Great review btw. I agreed with all you said! Dam ropes! You gotta play the N64 'vanias some day. People usually hate on them, but I think they were a decent attempt for the first 3D games of this beloved series. Thanks for the awesome vid! Keep 'em comin'.

Erin Plays Hope you make a video about it afterwards =)
I remember playing these as a kid. ^^
I havent come across too many ppl talking about the Gameboy CV. So happy to see this video. Belmont's Revenge was my introduction to CV. The nostalgia watching this was great.
I love castlevania games, took me forever to beat Castlevania III Draculas Curse and i love SOTN!!! much love from the Jicarilla Apache Nation here in Dulce NM. Keep it up lovely
Just replayed castlevania adventure on my super gameboy yesturday ! Such coïncidence ! Great content as always erin much love from Canada !
You missed what I consider one of the best Castlevania/ Spin-Offs on the Gameboy "Kid Dracula". Its an absolutly amazing game that you need to play.
The Deadly Eyeballs belong... to our hearts

I don't know if this answer can be topped.
Castlevania is one of my favorite video game franchises and my favorite Castlevania game is... The Castlevania Adventure on Game Boy (the first one). And I mean the original. It has a true unique gothic feel, I love this game since I was playing it when I was a kid. Also, yes it is sluggish but that makes it intense, and this game is not as hard as people say (I hate the toxic 'git gud gaming culture', so...).
I'm glad to learn of the GBC Konami Collections because good lord is Castlevania Adventure painful to play! Walking in sand is a pretty good descriptor. This was a great little video that reinforces my need to find Belmont's Revenge one of these days... thank you!
Just started playing these, via the Castlevania Classic Collection. And yes, they're fun.
I could never get enough of Castlevania content no matter what channel I subscribed to posts it.
Great video. I wasn't even aware of the third one. Have to track it down now.
Castlevania: The Adventure was actually the first Castlevania game I was able to beat...good times. Talkin about Castlevania never gets old with me! Keep 'em coming Erin!
I don't think I can get tired of Castlevania.
I believe that Sonia Belmont was supposed to be the main character in the Castlevania Dreamcast game. Unfortunately, it was cancelled and never released. I was really looking forward to that one too!
I am never tired of Castlevania period
Adventure was ok when it came out IMO but Belmont's Revenge blows it away. I liked Legends but not as much as Belmont's Revenge because I missed the subweapons. Did you explain how you felt abot Legends and I missed it? :ast I remember hearing you were saying you liked it but found out about the lack of usable subweapons but never explained whether you still liked the h=game despite not being allowed to use subweapons, thought it was ok, or disliked it.
I chuckled at sassy ghost
Love this game and great videos as always
Those giant eyeballs probably come from a monster made of eyes who can shoot eyes at people 👀👁️
What are the odds I was playing Castlevania adventures today using my super Game boy and this video pops up awesome video
I'm here for the wall meat 😏 Definitely have to try these out for the Game Boy. Great video Erin!

Love you your streams and the Castlevania franchise 🥰🥰🥰
nice job erin!!
i’ll never be sick of castlevania (minus judgement and LOS2). hopefully one day you’ll do a retrospective on the ds titles. your hair looks great btw!
hey Erin hows it going, thanks for the upload, love the vid
Picturing the giant eyeballs coming out of a broken gumball machine lol
Not tired of it! The more the better!!
My favorite is Castlevania 2 Belmont's revenge, but i love the anime style of Castlevania Legends.
My first gameboy was the kiwi neon green (gameboy color)
Never even heard of these gameboy games besides Legends. Glad to know about them now! Thanks!
I used to play Belmont's Revenge all the time as a kid!
Erin, my first Castlevania was Castlevania Adventure, and I thought at the time that it was a representation of the entire series, so I never tried another one until maybe five years later... which ended up being Castlevania II on NES. I didn't have luck when picking first experiences in Castlevania.

That sucks! The first Castlevania game I ever bought was Simon's Quest so, I understand :p
I haven't even watched the video yet but I already know the order for me. Belmont's Revenge was the best one (and is now available on the Castlevania Collection on Switch) followed by Legends with the worst being Castlevania: The Adventure. Belmont's Revenge was really cool. Legends I would love to see re-released, last I checked, a used copy of that will run you a pretty penny. From what I remember it wasn't as good as Belmont's Revenge but it wasn't as bad as Castlevania: The Adventure.
Love your videos! Legends for the GB is one of my favs. Even if testy lol
The music is really outstanding. Didn’t know about the color versions.
I will never ever get tired of Castlevania! I am a fanatic for those games! As far as the eyeballs, I think it might be a eyeball golem that gards the castle.
castlevania adventure, amazing music and one of the best game boy games 😍😍
In every game, the wall meat is called something different in the instruction manuals. I like that in Castlevania III, it's a leg of werewolf. I never had a chance to play the Game Boy ones when they were new, but sountrack to them is included with Super Castlevania IV on the Castlevania Best Soundtrack Vol 2 collection.
You want good handheld Castlevania with some boss leading ladies, I'd recommend Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia on DS. Ecclesia is actually in my top 5 Castlevanias of all time :)
Dracula on the Castlevania Adventure box art creeped me out as a kid.
That moving spike wall stage in Castlevania Adventure was BRUTAL; that killed the game for me, whereas the slow controls had only had it maimed up to that point, though I haven't played the fixed version. I agree with you, though; Belmont's Revenge is my favorite, but Legends is really good, too!
Hey, I just discovered your channel! Castlevania 2 for Game Boy DOES have a fantastic soundtrack! Especially the Crystal Castle, Cloud Castle, and Dracula's Castle themes (especially the first part of the castle. That song reminds me of something that would be heard in a Mega Man game)!
Thanks for the discovery. I was not aware of those Konami collections.
Never played a Gameboy Castlevania game. After seeing your video of Belmont's Revenge, I want to play that game.
The ropes were probably used in place of stairs because the stair climbing mechanics were probably too difficult to program on the Game Boy’s more limited memory space. Same reason the turtles in Super Mario Land turn into bombs instead of retreating into their shells, and why the fireballs bounce off walls like in Pong/Breakout instead of bouncing and rolling along the floor.
Damn, Christopher Belmont looks even better fifteen years later on that box art.
I just got the Gameboy Advance NES Classic Castlevania. Really liked it a lot.
Legends was a lot of fun. I had never played Belmont's revenge so I was used to no sub weapons in Game Boy games
Flying pigs in a blanket? I know what I'm having for dinner.
Great Job!👍
Sonia Belmont: *finds an axe* "What the hell do I do with this?"
The Soul Weapons take place of the traditional sub weapons in Legends. Sonia uses magic, like Shanoa.
I think this franchise doesn't get the appreciation it deserves. i mean, i didn't even know much of it until recently i started to play the games. At this date i have beaten castlevania 1, rondo of blood and sotn. Currently i'm playing dracula's curse and boy is it the hardest one (;° -°) your playthrough has helped me though haha

that's awesome! :)
I think the eyeballs are sentient beings themselves, cursed to never blink. 👀
Thanks for the info, Erin! The Castlevania series is one of my favorites, but I knew nothing about the Game Boy ones until now, lol. By the way, I recently got the Map Legend Gold Trophy in SOTN on PS4 - that was tough to get all 200.6% of the map filled in, lol.

Congrats!
The 3rd one was the best one. I know you’ talk about the lack of sub eapons but you idn’t really need them like you did in Belmonnt’s Revenge.
I now wanna buy some of these games
Never play the game boy games of Castlevania but I love the original for the Nintendo thanks for the video
No mention of Kid Dracula GB. Since it is part of the Castlevaina series.
Regarding Castlevania Legends, I'm surprised you didn't mention the abilities that Sonia Belmont *can* use. While not Subweapons, she does get magic abilities from each boss. Plus, pressing A and B at the same time gives a temporary speed boost and invincibility! There is also a secret stage to be unlocked which has the last magic and last unusable Subweapon.
So funny that even with the internet at our disposal some people can’t figure out how to use the sub weapons in legends. It’s so much more playable
I hope I'm not the only one looking forward to a return to Belmont's Revenge in the form of that Konami collection!
Keep the Castlevania fire burning!
Its hard to pick one as a favorite. The cover music from the franchise has been pretty rockin'. Vomitron's Castlevania Medley from No NES for the Wicked started me on that.
Tired of it? Nope! Keep it coming!!
Never played Castlevania but after watching this I might give it a try.
It's good to have the first two Castlevania GB games in the Castlevania Anniversary Collection.
Never enough Castlevania. Keep on with the vids. I forgot you call those things pigs in a blanket from ghost and goblins. I lost it laughing.
Castlevania Circle of the moon on GB Advanced was awesome. Beat that game more time then i can count 🤘
I have Castlevania Adventure. The controls definitely bog it down, but still a great game! I would like to complete my Castlevania collection for the Gameboy, but the other games are going up in price. One day I’ll bite the bullet and get the remaining two lol.
"But here [ropes] take it to another level" Well... that is what ropes are usually for in games
I love playing 'Vania on the Gameb'ya.... there's a rhyme there somewhere.
Yay!
Castlevania 2: Belmonts Revenge is VERY near and dear to my heart. I remember being at my Grandparents house in upstate New York & my Grandma took me into town to a store and she bought it for me. And I played the absolute shit outta that game! (Sigh) Great memories of being kid... lol 🥲Thanks for the nostalgia trip Erin! 🤜🤛
Such a great classic
i liked all castlevanias for the gameboy. i used to couldn't beat the castlevania adventure, it was pretty hard, but found it pretty easy to beat years later. castlevania II belmont's revenge was really too easy and could cakewalk through it as a kid but is the best one in my opinion.
Konami was able to produce orchestral pieces with nothing. I love listening to the music, takes me back to that time.
1:35 Croissants have never looked so intimidating.
I love Erin :)
SOTN 2020 :D
If I were Mike I would say they aren't eyeballs they are Draculas testicles.
Nice review, they're okay but i haven't playing them, is there a emulator for GB games? 😕 I recently played Bloodlines (Genesis) and i enjoyed it. 😄
