What a stunning piece!
I am fairly sure I am in possession of a gold snuff box, but not sure how to verify that and don’t want to look silly at a pawn shop. I couldn’t find the article about how to identify/confirm on your website.
Wow! 😍💖
The Rococo started in France in the 1720's not 1680's. Sorry to mention.

😂 I'll keep on reading!
I thought snuff boxes were small round pocket sized containers that were used to carry small amounts of snuff for on the go use..?? tfs

Mony's cell Hi, yes, generally speaking. But the elite made snuff boxes a thing of fancy and would make lavish examples from gold and precious stones made to impress rather than be oractical. Some can sell for over £1,000,000 at auction! Others have singing birds that pop out if the top of the box too.

Wow, incredible! I just can't see them carrying these big boxes around with them. Not very surprising that the elite would have flaunted their wealth - I just don't understand the logistics of them carrying these around.. lol. Thanks so much for the response.

There are table top snuff boxes as well as pocket sized ones.
