    This time’s version, The feeling of driving, Makes me feel as if I am driving, The FSD driving experience is smoother. You don’t need to spend too much energy on control, All you need to do is pay some attention to your surroundings. What’s even more convenient is that you don’t have to pay attention to the driving speed limit on each road section all the time. It can also help you pay attention to some things that are difficult for the human eye to notice. The progress is really quite big.

    I've noticed in others vids Teslas FSD is very good at getting very close to other vehicles/ objects, even pulling its mirrors in to clear. It could be a nerve racking drive untill you learn to trust it. But the tight roads it should shine brightest.

    I'm still on like 12.3.6 Doesn't get to speed fast enough and then doesn't slow down fast enough. When it drops from 55 to 45 for small towns I'll be thru the town and still going like 56, if a cop was waiting I'd be screwed. Usually disengage and re engage, scrolling wheel it doesn't respond fast enough either

    People roll stop signs because unless it’s a 4 way stop, the sign is actually pointless and should just be a yield sign. My town has a roundabout with a yield sign AND a stop sign 4ft apart. Some of the people that make the road rules are so bad at their job it’s insane.

    Sadly for me in my rural routes, other than lane centering (which is better), 12.4.3 is a regression in every way compared to 12.3.6! It pulls partly straight out into intersections, pauses, and then tries to make a hard 90 degree turn instead of following a natural arc. It switches lanes back and forth for no reason. Gets "locked" at lower speeds and you have to "remind" it to go back up to the speed limit by pressing the accelerator. And is just overall more unsure. 2024 Model 3 Performance with hardware 4. Still, progress can be a little bumpy at times. Kudos to the FSD team for having their eyes on the prize and working so hard!

    I've just got 12.3 and being able to drive without my hand on the wheel is terrific. Of course until we can completely ignore driving, 'nap mode,' we will continually go through a cycle of 'Oh wow!' quickly assimilate the improvements and then complain about the things it still doesn't do. Just have to keep in mind how good it really is. The cure is what I did last week. Drove my Prius 120 miles. I intervene to speed things up a bit. Once I can do something other than pay attention I'll stop caring about how long trips take. (Imagine a future four day drive coast to coast. During the day, stop off and view the sites. Then at night, let the car drive itself, tilt the seats back and sleep. 8 hours x 60 mph is 480 miles. Kansas will become Kanzzzzzz.... How soon is Tesla going to unveil automatic Superchargers?? When I back into them and don't back in far enough I wonder why hasn't Tesla solved this yet? (and to get in the back hatch, you have to high step over the cable, or walk behind the charger-- where people pee... )

    Since I got my car 3 years ago I take a trip up scenic Route 15 in New Mexico. It is a twisty mountain road. Three years ago Autopilot refused to engage and I don't blame it. Last year I tried FSD 11 and it was very scary. I disengaged a lot, perhaps partly because of my lack of trust. This summer 12.3.6 did the entire trip without interventions. There were a few places were I set the max speed to 5 over the limit. It seems to be state pastime here to wander around in your lane and sometimes out of it. We were in the left lane of a 2 lane road and a car ahead to our right drifted to the left without actually leaving his lane. I was wondering if he was going to try to pass the slower car ahead of him without using his blinker. My car might have thought the same thing because it slowed down to give him a place to merge in front of us. This may have upset the car behind us which then passed us on the right but IMO what my car did was absolutely the safest thing to do. I was very impressed.

    @DirtyTesla - I love watching your videos and seeing how it's getting better. Have a couple questions: 1) When you exit a roundabout, does it signal (not sure if that's required or not)? I do that in my non-Tesla vehicle - especially if there's someone waiting to enter the roundabout; 2) I've never driven a Tesla using FSD; is it safe for someone like me to use it? I'm just concerned that if it does something that I think is looking like it could be dangerous/wrong, will I be quick enough to disengage it? I'd love to try it some day.

    I like your videos, specially when you narrate. I have a question. I have a 2023 Model X and recently paid for my upgrade from Enhanced Autopilot to full FSD. I got TeslaOS v. 2024.14.9 (which gave me FSD v. 12.3.6). I noticed that when I’m in the right lane of the freeway as I approach traffic merging from an on-ramp, the car wants to hog both lanes due to the right side paint line moving over. The car tries to stay in the middle of what it perceives as “the lane”, effectively cutting off people trying to get on the freeway. Have they fixed this in FSD 12.4?

  • @DirtyTesla

    @DirtyTesla

    Yeah that's annoying... I do think this is better on 12.4, but I didn't experience it a ton on 12.3.6, so I don't want to say that definitively. After you get 12.4, if you feel like it, lmk if you find it's fixed

FSD (with human oversight) is 4.85/0.67 = 7.24 times better than humans and those stats include much older and less capable versions of FSD compared to V11 and V12.

    Has anyone ever thought of this: Thomas Jefferson once said: The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield, and government to gain ground. Just wait until FSD works as hoped for, THEN watch the government MANDATE it in all cars, like they did seat-belts, and motorcycle helmets. Under the guise of safety, they will force all new car buyers to buy FSD and ultimately require you get a "special" drivers license if you ever want to drive it yourself ever again! So, I guess the moral of the story is: Be careful what you ask for, because the "Land of the Fee" is watching...

    It slows down whenever it's giving you the warning "Please pay attention." Am I wrong? The "please pay attention" message wants you to touch the steering wheel yes? This happens when you "didn't notice" and so you wouldn't correlate the two because it's a lapse in attention.

    I stopped to rewind the video... 6:23 when it moved to the left lane to turn left it was flashing the pay attention warning, I don't know if were undecided and chose wrong because it had no confirmation(?) 7:52 the pay attention caution then the talking dialogue "it's slowing down..." - "speed control" 9:21 flashes pay attention sight "...it speeds up it slows down" dialogue "too early" 10:01 "too slow" - the pay attention sign is on (what the car is doing at the moment and what it is anticipating ahead may not correlate to the pay attention sign and the slowing down may happen ahead of the pay attention sign - therefore all this could be coincidence) 10:45 please pay attention to the road - from 28 speed drops to 14 before entering the roundabout and it drops to 10 meanwhile commenting about "slow" Question - when it flashes "pay attention to the road" - does it want you to confirm that you're paying attention because there is a potentially complex move happening? - is there a timer that runs out and then it flashes "please pay attention" - when driving with passengers and you are talking and move your gaze away from the road, does this trigger the "pay attention" caution, in conjunction with something "interesting" happening on the road at the same time? - does the caution mostly happen when there's a turn... and the driver is talking to someone? (happens to me)

    lol it could be playing mind games - it knows "you're not paying attention" so it slows down because it believes you can't tell why... But actually you're partly paying attention so you are concluding that it slows down for no reason. It has lost the mind game. Maybe it's calibrating. It is always monitoring. (Perhaps when alone in the car the calibration is good.) With passengers, now it can't tell if you're paying attention or not - driver behavior is totally different. It is always monitoring. It flashes "please pay attention" in an attempt to calibrate but it's no good - the driver response to calibration is inconsistent. Calibration impossible. The reason why it slows down is difficult to ascertain other than it's for safety. That's all I have. Good job testing.

    Tesla is way behind on push Out. In May 12.4 was supposed to go out. Then according to Elon 12.5 would be by July which is supposed to bring FSD to Cybertruck. It’s now July and 12.4 is still not wide roll out. At this rate Cybertruck owners still won’t have FSD by the August Robo-Taxi event.

    32-28mph is not a big deal at all guys. I think you are overthinking the speed thing a bit. Though I agree the speed is not perfect. 2-4mph is not a big deal. The car may have seen something you didn’t. Once it’s a true robotaxi. The small discrepancy is not a biggie. Critical disengagements!
