They’re not doing that because the Eubank v Benn legacy of the 90’s has long since ended! Anyone who believes that family names are at stake in this fight doesn’t understand that this fight is simply all hype and all it achieves is putting these guys firmly in the shadow of their fathers. In fact as a boxing purist and someone who lives in the present in the long term this doesn’t help either fighters career as neither are even close to their fathers boxing abilities.

When I was 9 I was watching the fathers feud and their fights - the Watson and Collins era. Over 30 yrs later it’s the sons turn. His dad was not eloquent, it was all a contrived act of crowbarring long words into sentences that he often could not pronounce and probably did not even know what they meant either. I remember watching one interview where he was suggesting he clearly won and said it was an ambiguous win.

Funny thing is, as I’ve got older and have rerun the fights, I appreciate Eubank’s boxing skills and especially his heart so I’ve switched allegiance!! 😳 For Next Gen, I kinda like both guys so may the best man win and hope they both come through safe and sound 😉

Exactly what I've been telling people. One becomes a superstar after winning while the other gains nthg after winning. They would discredit Eubank's victory with the usual excuses; he was too big, Benn isn't matured yet, he has the height n reach advantage over Benn, he beat the younger and inexperience Benn n so on. Benn would be praised for his courage even if he loses But the Eubank is finished if he loses.
