I used Proraso Red Shaving Cream (in a tube) for the first time. Absolutely was blown away. Used only 1/2 tsp and it made plenty of lather for a 3 pass shave. It lathers up so quickly and provides great cushion. For someone new to wet shaving or for someone in a hurry, Proraso is the ticket.

It is great value shaving cream. It would not be as good as Taylor’s of old Bond Street but for the price it is amazing performance.

Great shave! I used the Proraso pre shave, soap, and aftershave this morning. It’s a great classic trifecta for every shave den!

The Rockwell 6c is amazing. I love it. Always smooth! Really nice. My favourite too!

My favourite combo for winter. I also add a small splash of Pashana a/s over the Proraso red a/s to boost the scent. Pashana has the same scent only stronger.

If I could only have one razor, it would be my Rex Ambassador!! Best razor ever for me!!

Hi Kevy- Nice Sandalwood shave today; thank you! Nice looking brush with the flat-top knot; very interesting! It The does look it did a nice job painting the lather. If I needed to choose one razor, it would be the Rockwell 6S. It has been a game-changer for me since the first couple of shaves with it. As far as a razor that I would like to try, it would be the Rocnel Elite. I’m definitely going to need to re-try the Super-Max Blue Diamonds. I tried one or two at the beginning of the year and then passed the rest along to a friend. But if they have made your current top five, they definitely need a re-visit! Mike, the 6S will take some beating as my top razor. I'm looking to try out the Karve and it will have to be some razor to knock the 6S off my top spot. Rocnel Elite looks superb. Blades are so subjective as you know, I'm just glad I've found one that seems to be working well for me. But as you know, that could change with me putting one of them in a razor and I get a horrible shave. Hopefully it won't happen. Cheers. Kevy 👍

Kevy, love the humor in your videos. A definite plus that sets you apart. I'm hoping one of those high end razors you have on order is Rockwell's Model T. It seems amazing! There are very few reviews about it. I have been burned by a different made-to-order company, so I'm hesitant with the Model T -- especially considering the few reviews. So perhaps you have had the guts to order one, and can give us another one of your fantastic reviews.

Great video as is usual by now. I love Poraso soaps. I tried all so far now that I bought the white. When I hear that they don't lather well ,I just have to scratch my head. I find Poraso to lather very quickly and rich. The answer to when it dries on your face is, add water or add more shave cream. It's a no brained. Great soaps at a very reasonable price.

Amazing shave, I have many soaps and creams including the Proraso red. Sweet, refreshing scent. I have 4 razors, the Parker 91 and 26, Edwin Jagger DE89 and Merkur 34. If I had to choose one it would be the Merkur 34 for it manuverability. My absolute favorite scent is the DR Harris Windsor, it's made for the sophisticated gentleman. Love your videos! Cheers!!

Kevy, they are both amazing razors. I like that the 6C comes with all the plates available. The Karve is ala cart and you pay extra for each different plate. I have the B & C which are sufficient for my needs. Shave wise, I need some more shaves with my Karve under my belt. I am testing blades still so my rotation with the Karve hasn't come up enough. But the shaves I've had are all BBS and comfortable and non-irritating.

Great shave and chat Kevy. Proraso Red is a super good product, I find the scent fantastic and very wearable, consistent throughout. The Rockwell is definitely a keeper razor, I have both the 6S and 6C, I reach for the "C" more often as it's a little smoother I think. Can't go wrong with either though. No way can I select just one razor, of course I'm not forced to..😜 I'd have to roll the dice on the modern razors as there are so many that shave excellently, if a vintage; probably the Gillette Slim Adj. or Super 109 Black Beauty (pre 1977). I’d keep my Rex Supply Co. Sentry Slant. I’d like to try the Leaf Thorn and Rockwell 6S. I’m currently waiting on a Merica razor from Yates Precision Manufacturing right now so I may change my mind once that arrives.

I totally agree with you Kevy. The Rockwell 6S is my favourite razor also. I tend to use level 5. I have the Karve with plates C and D; nice razor but I prefer the Rockwell.

J. Jonah Jamison was Peter Perker's boss. I love Proraso Red. After I shave with it, I'll walk around and smell it all day.

I really enjoy the Proraso products. Unfortunately with many other soaps in the den they tend to take a back seat to the others. When I eventually got back to finishing off the Proraso green after a couple of years, I didn't realise there could be side effects on the skin with an out of date soap, and I had a very bad reaction needing a trip to the doctor to clear my skin of the reaction. Kevy, check the Red Soap Super Formula. Just had a shave with it, slickness is abundant, residual slickness really surprised me, great stuff. Lather was not really dense, but coverage was excellent. It is worth a shave video if you ask me. I had written a review for the White soap Super Formula back in the day. Read it if you have time. It is more detailed. The razor was Yaqi Scalloped and blade SuperMax Diamond Titanium. Smooth, easy 3.5 pass shave.

Scintillatingly Scrumptious Sandelwood Shave!. Love my Tatara Masamune Razor, now waiting for The Christopher Bradley Razor from Karve. Timeless would be my next port of call. But by then I’ll be living on a park bench with all this expenditure.

I have several high end razors (Wolfman, Timeless, Barbaros), but my favorite razor is the Rockwell 6S on Plate#4) followed by the Edwin Jagger DE 89 on a Maggard MR5 handle.

My first and only (new to wet shaving) DE razor is the Henson AL13 Mild - Black. Looks sick and works like a charm on my sensitive skin. BBS shave after 3 passes.

I recently got a Gillette fatboy made in the first quarter of 1961. I'm excited to try it...it will be my first adjustable razor. I also picked up an old brass ball end tech that I think I'll really enjoy....however my favorite has to be my Edwin Jagger DE 89 LBL. It gives me the best quality shave without any effort, probably because I use it more than any other razor and it's become an old hat.

I have a Rex Supply Co. "Envoy". I love everything about the razor except the very short handle. From this point forward I will pay close attention to the dimension's. I have a Merkur 41 "Twist" on order from England. I wanted a more aggressive razor. Keep up the great content!

At 13:13 you're an absolute devil Kevy. It's not the fact, it's the laughter after the fact.

as a preshave it always clogged my razor, but you can use it on the last pass, when the face is still wet, just apply a thin layer which will give plenty of slickness and then perform the shave

Kevy, so I got the product and gave it a go and you are right it smells lovely. Think I'll get the proraso pre shave cream next and try that too. I'm quite new to wet shaving and am using the Edwin jagger 3D razor with a feather blade. I need to perfect my technique I think cos my face looked like a scene from saw when I finished lol. Have some astra green on order. Out of interest have you tried cremo shaving cream? It's very very slick.

61, nice one. I have 9 and whilst this number will increase 91would be a challenge 👍the best from 91 is some call. Good man.

maybe the best soap taking into account lather , slick and PRICE , in Europe a jar cost only 3,6 euro ( around 4 dollar ), that is 77 cent per OZ, and scent of eucalyptus and mint is lasting very long during the day

kevy I have several razors , can you believe that a razor from LORD Egypt who costed me only 68 Mexican pesos ( around ) 3 dollar ( I bought the razor a month ago ) , gives me the same shave quality as my expensive razors , incredible , must be the engineering of the very simple design, regard Robert

Bj Cundiff Quite right. Whatever razor I might try, I believe none would surpass the Rockwell 6c/s on my list. Absolutely unique in concept and a great shaver. THE razor I would choose if I were to restrict myself to one type.

Of all of my razors, I'd keep my Rockwell 6S if I had to keep only one. And the one I want to try is the Timeless Titanium.

Only one razor? Rockwell 6C or 6S depending on budget. I liked the 6C so much that I had to have the 6S too! Sounds like you may need an after shave that is also an insect repellent.

Great Shave Kevy. Love my 6C and Futur , sometimes the Futur bites back :( But would love to try the Rex :)

Hey Edward. I don't use preshave all the time, only if I feel like it. But I would advise a beginner to use it as much as you can. Your skin needs all the help it can get when you're just starting out and I think a pre shave will definetley help you and your skin in getting a better shave. Stick with it. The Proraso pre shaves are great and not expensive. There's lots of pre shaves out there, even a moisure cream will work as a pre shave. Cheers. Kevy 👍

That brush! It has the profile of two famous cartoon/comic book characters. The first, you cleverly identified- obviously J. Jonah Jameson. The second, is Flat Top, a villain/ freelance hitman from Dick Tracy fame. These being said, it should be mentioned that ShaveMac makes a brush with a flat silvertip knot called the Broc. It was featured on your first tour of the Groom Room. Ian had said that "Broc" was Gaelic for badger. It performed well! I was skeptical of the knot's shape. I don't think there's anything that can touch the 6S. It is indeed your deserted island razor. A unsurprising BBS. The Rockwell delivered it's goods, and did the job. Since you were chewed on by midges, the Myrsol Plastic would have made short work of the irritations. after all, that's what it was formulated to do. BUT, this is Sandalwood September, so I'm glad you stuck to your guns. I'm sold on that Super-Max!! Excellent shave to behold! Well done, Cheers!

Great shave. When you mentioned J Jonah Jameson from Spider-Man, I immediately began to remember seeing him in Spider-Man movies he appeared in. When someone makes a reference to a movie character, I begin remembering him/her from particular or movies or show he/she comes from. It creates a little bit of irony for me

Man... you went a lot of passes... with out any soap... you got red as a lobster... Big like for the pain 😅

Not keen on the Rockwell Kev I prefer a Muhle R89 an Edwin Jagger DE89 and a Feather AS-D2 as a go to's with either Feather or Rapira LUX blades the Rockwell I found a tad to rough and the adjustment differences between the plates too wide. I now have two vintage revamped Gillette razors I am desperate to try one a an adjustable Fatboy and the other a Super Speed adjustable. The midges I remember as a kid in Sussex - now in Australia and there are similar ratbag things called sandflies and other nasty bitey things that make ones life a misery when out side in warm weather.:D

Hey Kevy, in your experience, what are some of the “slickest” shave soaps you’ve used? I love my proraso soaps but I wouldn’t consider them slick. Many suggest that I should try Cella, and I plan to, but I’d love to hear your take. :) Thanks in advance!

Cella, yes! The Proraso creams in the plastic pouches are very slick. Barrister and Mann soaps are slick as are Arianna & Evans. Mac can Root from the Body Shop is another good one. There's lots of soaps out there that people say are slick that I haven't tried. KZread is a good place to gather opinions. Kevy 😀👍

I don’t know if you knew but those super max blades have number 1-2 on one side and 3-4 on the other. What I like doing on the first pass is using number 1 on less sensitive areas, then number 3 on a more sensitive area, and on the next passes I use 3 or 4. Seems to get me a very close shave and doesn’t irritate my skin quite so badly either. Really awesome blades.

Great Shave Kevy. Do you know if they have changed the formula for the soap? I got a new tub yesterday and it seemed very thirsty. I even did a green proraso lather this morning and it's a few years old and lathered without as much water.

Very well done, Kevy. Proraso is a good brand; tried and true. Can’t go wrong if you’re looking for a good performing soap. Question for you: what do you use to film with? I currently use my iPhone 8, but the autofocus really only goes for faces so the stuff I’m trying to show doesn’t get the proper focus...

an other very cheap razor you can buy here in Mexico is the van der hagen TTO, cost only 50 pesos , around 2,2 dollar , incredible and is really not bad

I had the Taylor of old bond street in sandalwood and quite liked the scent. Does the proraso red smell similar (given that you also has had experience with TOOBS)?

The Proraso sandalwood is a bit more of a woody scent than TOBS but it’s a really nice scent too. Cheers. Kevy 😊

Hey Kevy, perhaps a flippant question but what's the difference between the aftershave lotion and pre-shave balm (that you used post-shave)? I don't have the pre-shave balm but I use the aftershave lotion.

The Pre shave has ingredients in it for softening the stubble. Kevy 👍

I'd keep my Black Handle Gillette Super Speed. I'd like to try a mint condition Gillette Double Ring Old razor. (One can dream, can't one?)

If I've seen correctly, you do have marks from screwing on the base plate. At 4:12 on the number 2 side of the base plate.

Me neither, some people (like Michael Freedberg) use nylon washer to protect their razors. But for me that's too much of a hassle.

I'm new to the wet shave game. I heard many guys talk about a blade last "x" number of shaves. My question is. . Is 1 shave of a blade considered to be one pass or is 3 pass, 1 shave??

Hi Mac. A 3 pass shave is considered 1 use of a blade. I usually only use the same blade for 3 shaves then renew it. Blades are very cheap to buy. Cheers. Kevy 👍

@@kevyshaves4109 JK Simmons is bald. He was given a really good toupe. The haircut is a US Marines military cut, so you could nickname the brush after any fictional or real soldier if you wanted too
