@Writer: Oh, excuse me for not being extremely picky about my choice of words. Most people would understand the meaning of what I was saying with out nitpicking it. My comment is 7 years old and has 207 likes so apparently over the years at least a few people understood what I meant and agreed with me. And as for the “this is fiction” comment, do you realize how many people fall in love with people they work with or work for, and one or both parties are married to someone else? Sounds like real life to me! Even if all the characters in this movie were aliens (which I do not believe in and in my eyes are VERY fictional) but the story and character development was the same, I would STILL have made the same comment that I made. But let me rephrase my comment for the nitpickers: “I hate it when movies have plots and character development that portray adultery in a favorable or sympathetic or otherwise non-negative light. Cheating is wrong no matter what.” Happy now? Probably not and I don’t really care so DEAL WITH IT 😘

Damn, Alan's voice is what heaven sounds like.

I first liked Alan Rickman as Severus Snape because I am a Harry Potter fan. After that I watched most of his films like Die Hard, Truly, Madly, Deeply, Love Actually, Snow Cake.. etc. He's an amazing actor. And his voice is just... wow! I'm still sad about his death. Rest in Peace Alan...

Actually there are movies out there trying to show the unpleasant and painful side of cheating. Such as: Closer or Last Night. Besides I don't think people cheat because it's romanticised in books and movies - art just displays human behaviour and while being selfish or careless might not be tolerable on a daily basis (even though some people seem to get away with it) we can all relate to those situations because we've all been there at one point. I dislike this movie (based on the trailer) for a whole other point: it all seems so predictable.

Could not agree more, and I would add that the counter to "romanticizing it" is not "showing how wrong it is" but simply showing lots and lots of movies where healthy couples navigate happy lives as a team. There should be more "us against the world" movies instead of "we're shady bastards" movies.

Mia May it's not really a love triangle because the thing between Herr and Frau Hoffmeister might have been love but now it's more of a habit, part of their routine to be together. I do not like love triangles at all either; however this I do not consider it to be a love triangle. Anna Karenina, her husband and Count Wronsky are not a love triangle, yet it is the same type of relationship as in this movie.

IRealisticI Cheating has the same weight as being divorced in the 1800s, actually. As long as it's a woman in the 1800s, what she does can reflect in how she's seen by society. Cheating can still affect her financial standing and whether or not she loses her child. Also, my response was directed specifically towards someone who was defending cheating in its general form/subject. Though either way, cheating is cheating.
