    Martin, great video explaining to this beginner of Planetary photography exactly HOW to work this ADC which I did buy before I saw this. Now I KNOW what to do and when to do it, thanks to you! BTW, I am in the States and the planets don't get much higher than they do in the U.K. here! Big thumbs up! I'll be watching it again!

    Thanks Brian for watching, I agree there isn't much info regarding ADCs, and now many other channels are following suit to match my video. I am the first to make this video with clear video footage to prove how it performs. The viewers need to see this video if they want to really invest in a ADC, it will change their minds and will make the purchase, it's every penny and my views have been outstanding so far.

    A good tip i am yet too try is to slightly over expose to exagerate the fringing. Correct it then come back down in exposure. Keep the vids coming Martin :)

    Thanks for this video. It is clear now that such corrector is a top priority instead of expensive eyepiece especially when UK doesn't allow to view planets high above horizon so this device is simply a must.

    Believe me it will make a difference, might be small gains but the ADC will improve on images dramatically, you have to tweak the levellers on the prisms just right, sometimes it is hit or miss. But the ADC does work and it was not a waste of money I can tell you.

    Great video and detail on attachment rings. One important step is you need to first align the ADC zero point to the horizon. That sets the optical axis of the 2 prisms to the axis of the atmosphere. This has 2 possibilities, 180 degrees out. Need to check which one improves the correction when you split the handles apart. If you have it wrong just rotate the ADC 180 degrees. You can see in your corrected position that you had a bit of dispersion remaining at an angle from the main correction axis due to the ADC not being aligned with the horizon. Should be able to eliminate red blue edges all around the image when the horizon is set and the split corrects for the atmospheric dispersion.

    Thanks Jeff for your reply, The live view of Jupiter through the camera on the video is exactly what you would see through the eyepiece at high powers. You can definitely tell the difference visually!! I wished that I demonstrated this through the eyepiece projection to prove this, but my camera will show this anyway.

    You do seem to have a lot of colour around the edges like its from a refractor. I have the skymax 180 not tried a 150 but even on a bad day I don't get those false colours. Have you tried a before and after by completely taking off the ADC. Nice channel by the way i've been watching your attempt at cooling the DSLR great stuff.

    Totally agree and also the brand new ADC now comes with a level bubble attachment, which now I need to get at an added cost of around £22. ZWO needs to stop launching new products quickly just to be the first to sell upgrade before any other competition does without putting some better thought into better QE control and ensure instructions and modifications have been completed to finalise before the product is sold on the market. Something ZWO is not great at it, great products though!!!

  • @MPAstro

    @MPAstro

    4 жыл бұрын

    You can attach T-ring onto the 1 1/4" eyepiece holder, there is a male T-2 thread around the ADC eyepiece holder. You can unscrew the eyepiece holder to reveal an internal female T2 thread, but you'll need a special adapter to achieve this. I would recommend if you contact these guy's, they may find special adapter for you. www.teleskop-express.de/shop/index.php/cat/c122_T2-Thread-Adapter.html/page/2

    I got it from Maplins a while ago unfornately they have gone bust and the part is no longer available I'm afraid. But has long if you can find 50mm fan, it should fit within the mounting holes on the base so you can bolt on M4 bolts. You'll need small enough heat sink and Peltier to fit inside, use thermal adhesive to stick the Peltier plate (making sure that the cold side faces the base and the hot side is mounted on the heatsink), then you should be good to go!!

    You have a maksutov not achromat refractor so in reality it shouldn't suffer from any CA despite the turbulent air. Two things either your scope is completely out of collimation or the camera you are using is introducing some false colour. I have used maksutov for decades and in the worst unsteady nights I have never seen a purple halo like your around Jupiter.
