Nigerians Bishop's are the ones to request him being honored. Rome knows nothing until Bishop's propose via a Nuncio.

Yes he does deserve the honor but it's not the Vatican to nominate him but his diocese.I believe the nomination starts from his parish then diocese.For that reason his bishop should have realised this God given gift in his diocese.I strongly believe he will one day receive the honor.
