I was a tween when the show started, started watching just before Kristin was killed. Wow, Crosby is amazing! She is a better actress than some of the actresses in lead roles.

So in order to get the full story about the whole thing, one needed to watch Knots Landing along with Dallas. The producers were smart.

In contrast, later CBS screwed it up with inflating the NCIS universe with including Scorpion, Hawaii Five-0 and MacGyver, where Scorpion later started using fake country names (thus erasing themselves from the NCIS universe) and the earthquake on MacGyver never registered on Hawaii Five-0, either that or 21st-century architecture companies use some impeccable video game fast build technology to remove all traces.

They were smart to a point but bear in mind this was when Knots was self contained so they didn't capitalise fully to keep the story again. Also, the one faux pas Knots made during it's long run was to not feature Gary and Val as suspects in the shooting. They both had excellent motives and their inclusion in the whodunnit list would have taken Knots to the top of the ratings a few years earlier.

They killed Kristin's character off to soon..

I hate the way characters in these scenes never want breakfast except for coffee. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, hungry or not, especially for a pregnant woman.

This was KNOTS LANDING (1980-1981) second season and DALLAS fourth season. This was Kristin's dual storyline from DALLAS first, she informed Sue Ellen and J.R she was pregnant supposely J.R's child after she admitted she shot J.R. Sue Ellen wanted to call the police, but J.R said no it would caused a bigger scandal than already is, but told her to leave Dallas and gave her undisclosed amount of money, escorted by J.R and Sue Ellen to the airport. The storyline continued to spin-off series. ☺

He's not. Bobby and Pam thought he was JR's son with Kristin. But we later found out there was another story. But if he had been, Sue Ellen would have resented him for all the dirt Kristin did to her; including getting her falsely arrested for shooting JR.

Val might have met Kristen during Val's first marriage to Gary. Val and Gary remarried, much to J.R.'s displeasure, on Dallas right before the first episode of Knots Landing. Kristen probably heard of Val and Gary remarrying and moving to California from J.R. while they were involved.

I love how Kristen bonded with Val, in a way she could never bond with her own sister, I think Kristen could have stayed on, if not for more of a Ewing connection also she could have bonded well with Gary and Val over their hatred of JR, also Abby vs Kristen feud would have been red hot in the mid 80s

Imagine the story potential and they can still do the Val's babies plot line like have Lucy break down to Val about her abortion in Season 6. They kinda brushed away after a few months.

Charlene Tilton should have left Dallas and become a regular member of the spinoff series. 2. Christopher Atkins as Peter Richards also ought to have moved to Knots Landing after his one season work on Dallas. I can just imagine Peter becoming a handsome California gigolo and beach boy romancing Abby, Paige and Anne in the spinoff series.

I don't remember Kristin doing a cross-over to Knott's Landing.

I always found it strange Miss Ellie and Jock Ewing never visited Gary and val Ewing in California. But yet J.R. visited them and they hated site of him (Ha Ha Ha)😃. But it' only acting end of the day.

Knots Landing, Falcon Crest and Dallas was when Hollywood produced movies of substance, now only garbage. Can’t forget magnificent spaghetti westerns.

Wow, I had no idea that Kristin appeared in KL. The backstory interplay between Dallas and KL for the first few seasons was absolutely superb, so much more convincing than the stupidly contrived familiarity the Colbys tried to establish with Dynasty.

Interesting that in the episode she never told anyone the father was JR and she shot JR.

I really liked Kristen, actually, if only for no other reason that she had the absolute FACE of a conniving vixen. As a side note: She would eventually become Christopher Ewing's biological mother.

It was funny hearing Gary acknowledge the Ewing in him. And the funny part is, JR is the only one who REALLY knew it. Remember the time Abby asked him why he despised Gary so much? He was afraid that one day Gary would use that Ewing against him.

Never got why they did this crossover. Who shot JR was a major Dallas story ratings bonanza. Knots didnt need a connection to it. That said she should have stayed a few seasons. Crosby was beautiful and an amazing actress.

The KL Kristen crossover was to give KL a piece of the Who Shot JR ratings pie. I agree it made little sense Kristen visiting JRs estranged brother in California but at the same time it was an interesting angle.

This was about two years before Knots Landing became a ratings hit. Therefore I too will never understand why they didn't exploit the situation more on Knots. Val is one of the few people who would have understood Kristen's motivation better than anyone and the fact she was pregnant would have been enough of a reason to keep a potential confession confidential. Keeping Kristen on the show could have brought in some additional Dallas fans not familiar with Knots to see how Kristen's story played out.

Mary was spun over to knots after the 1980 shooting..Hoping Mary would play Kristin longer.. I did not work..Mary was only on this show for a few weeks..Then went back to Dallas and then..Was killed off for the 1980-81 season finale on Dallas here body in the south fork pool..And Kristin lost JR baby here..And then had to get pregnant again quickly by Jeff Fairday..I loved the haunting score on both Dallas and Knots for 1980-81..!!..XD

After she shot JR he made her leave town to California because she was pregnant with his baby. He wanted her gone so she wouldn’t cause a scandal. When she got to California she was arrested at a party for drugs so she called Gary and Val to bail her out.

Ooh!! Knots Landing was on way too late for me, on a Thursday, during the school year! I had no idea Kristen moved there, before she died! Interesting...

I never realized until now how JVA's weight fluctuated from different seasons. When she was on Dallas's first season she literally emaciated, then for the first season of KL it was more normal, then in this season she was back to being thin as a rail; there'd be a similar pattern throughout the later seasons too.

I’m not sure about the cross over of Kristin on Knots - for me , it didn’t make sense …..

Why the hell is Kristin with Gary and Valene? She is Sue Ellen sister. Valene you don't ever have another woman stay in your house around your gorgeous husband. Especially Kristin she is Jrs mistress and sister in law. She just going to one place to another causing problems.

Ironically, Kristin’s crossover is the only one that worked from Dallas. Bobby, JR, and Lucy’s always felt forced.

No, I meant Kristin and her appearance was the only Dallas crossover that worked. Val would have taken her in, for sure. The other crossovers did not work. Maybe Bobby in the first episode, but JR's and Lucy's solitary one didn't. The scene with Gary and Kristin at the breakfast table def worked. Sad Kristin was killed because she could have popped up here and there again in KL......

I agree, somehow I’m not bothered that Kristen was distantly related to Gary and Val, in fact together they were the Ewing outsiders, Kristen who was never close to Sue Ellen actually found a sister in Val, and in Kristen, Val found a surrogate daughter who she bonded with in a way she could never bond with Lucy and together along with Gary they had all been badly treated and driven to do the wrong thing by their respective association and past dealings with JR, the writers knew what they were doing with this crossover

now that's funny, I never knew Christian went to Knotslanding after shooting JR and was pregnant to...remember her using that trump card to stay out of jail and later on Bobby got custody to give the baby to Pam, they even said it was JR'S baby but with it being Christian who knows.

They probably would have welcomed her in to their house with open arms, because we know that Gary and Val, especially Val, hated JR. lol....There was a scene in KL, or maybe on Dallas, where Lucy and Miss Ellie call Gary when JR was shot, and Gary tells Lucy he will be on the next plane to Dallas and he crossed over to Dallas with a guest appearance. Naturally Val said she wasn't going and urged him not to. lol.......

What? Kristen didn't even meet them and they aren't even family but she is going to show up on the run from a murder charge??

The music heard in the beginning was also used on the Australian soap opera Prisoner: Cell Block H.

Kristin is pregnant with J.R's child here, which she later miscarried. Gary and Val knew of Kristin as she was Sue Ellen's sister. It's Kristin that contacts them earlier in the episode.

Wow. I don’t remember that. I thought shortly after Kristin shot JR or at least the end of the next season she was found dead in the South fork pool from a drug overdose. I remember SueEllen crying because her sister was a doper. I guess addiction ran in their family. Sad ending. Val and Gary we’re both very good looking people.

@@conithomson4409 she left Dallas about the 4th episode of the season after Jr was shot...then came back about 10 months later ( Dallas universe time) for the last 2 episodes. She was not really in it much for those last 2 episodes of the season..and yes the season ended with her dead in the pool. This gust role in knots happened sometimes in between her leaving Dallas and coming back.

That's a great line. Not who is the father? "Do you know who the father is?" Ha. what a great question.

I was not aware of this character making her way to Knots Landing.

That's not true, Bing Crosby died in 1977, a year before Dallas aired, and Mary Crosby joined the cast of Dallas in it's second season, and she was on good terms with her father before he passed, she got the bulk of his estate.

Kristin didn't move to Knots Landing. She was in town and contacted Val and she stayed with them for a short while. That's not moving 😅

All three of Dallas, Dynasty, and KL peaked in 85-86...

That didn't happen until a year or so after this. This was fall 1980, and Kristin was found dead in the pool at Southfork in the season finale of Dallas, in 1981. She went back to Dallas, to hit JR up for more blackmail money. lol....

Gary is Sue Ellen's brother in-law who has a nice heart. Katherine Shephard, on the other hand, shot JR Ewing point blank and goes to Knots Landing to spend some time with Gary and Val Ewing. Please think positive daily. ©® May 26, 2021 @ 11:10 pm ©®

She was perfect for the Karen Lancaster role. Spoiled rich beeyoch screwing an older married man. Funny thing is, I saw a recent interview with her and she said the Dallas producers initially didn't see her playing Kristin; being that she was Bing Crosby's daughter. Hagman helped her get the part because their families were friends.

Due to a Union strike in 1980, Lorimar used this stock music until the strike was resolved. Even Dallas had some Prisoner Cell Block H music too that year!

Kristin (Mary Crosby) was the absolute most beautiful woman to ever appear on Dallas and there were plenty of other gorgeous women. But Kristin was the best. JR should've just divorced the drunk loser Sue Ellen and married her little sister instead!

The baby's father is JR Ewing , who is Kristen Shephard's brother in-law, in which Bobby Ewing was located by Jeff Faraday to sell him JR's second son named "Christopher" so when Bobby came home Pam was happy to recieve a baby boy that belongs to them. JR was already out of the hospital and back at Southfork recuperating, even before he found out Kristin shot him. He actually started walking again right when Sue Ellen revealed that Kristin shot him. Then JR and Sue Ellen sent Kristen to California, so I guess she decided to mooch off of Gary and Val as long as she could.

How/why did Kristen end up turning to Gary and Valene when she went out to California?

This was the most pointless episode of the 2nd season. So much potential, and nothing happened. It would have been more fun had Kristen got together instead with Richard Avery.

Eric Nelson perhaps they were just testing the waters by teasing the audience. The potential was definitely there but this vixen had a watery grave awaiting her ass poolside at the Ewing Ranch!

It was too much to cover in just 1 episode, making the ending feel forced. Other than that Season 2 was one of my faves, where KL came into it's own and developed its identity.

Where did Kristin go between December 1980 and April of 81..??..XD

Stayed in California, used drugs and lived off JR's monthly blackmail checks, miscarried Jr's baby, and then immediately got pregnant again with her loser BF/husband named Jeff Farraday. lol...That is where Kristin was, and she was damn busy with all that plotting and scheming. lol.....

It would be interesting if Kenny Ward turned out to be Christopher's father. TNT Dallas could have gone down that route. He would have a bio half sister, Ginger's daughter.

Is this Christopher or the first baby with JR that she miscarried.

I know, I think it was a weak story line. Kristin had called Val and Gary's house after she is arrested at a wild Hollywood party with drugs, and they bailed her out and brought her back to their house. She may have met Gary in the past, but not Val. What I could never understand is that they show Gary on the phone with Bobby in Dallas, (you just hear Gary's side of the conversation) and he called Bobby to verify, I guess that she was who she said she was. lol....And Gary says that Bobby said she was ok, or her story checks out. lol..... I just thought, Hello??? she had just confessed to shooting JR. But in the scene on Dallas, Kristin confessed to shooting JR, and to carrying Jr's illegitimate child, just in front of JR and Sue Ellen. They were out by the pool. I guess JR didn't tell anybody else in the family, knowing JR, he wanted to keep it close to the vest and not tell his personal business around SF. lol...He probably just told the rest of the family, "Kristin in leaving town and the case is going to be closed by the police". lol....Oh yeah, and the murder charges are just going to be dropped against Sue Ellen. (Like the police would just actually do that in real life. lol.....Nobody in the Ewing family questioned that? lol...I know if my brother was shot, and then just wanted to drop the charges against his wife with no reason, and have the case closed by the police, I would demand to know what was going on? lol.....

@@caseyl3789That telephone conversation between Gary and Bobby always bugged me too. And Bobby DID know by then that it was Kristin who shot JR - I watched the episode not long ago where he is surprised that it was her - which makes it all the more extraordinay that he didn't tell Gary. There are a couple of ways that you can make it make sense of sorts. Bobby may have felt that Kristin had a good reason for shooting JR and that it wasn't normal behaviour for her, so me may have decided to keep quiet and not tell Gary so as not to worry him. OR... Bobby did tell Gary about it, but Gary thought that JR probably deserved it anyway, and decided not to tell Val.

i thought kristen was in KL. makes sense. more please DALLAS 70👍
