60 seconds from a powerful storm that came ashore off Lake Erie a couple of Novembers ago. Strong winds, big waves and a Seiche!

Nigel - I thought that you might like to know that what you are calling a seiche is actually wind run-up, where the wind and barometric pressure push the water to one end of the lake. A seiche happens after the wind or pressure change or let up and the water rushes back to the other end of the lake (or can be across the lake, in any direction, but is most pronounced along Lake Erie’s length). The pendulum-like back-and-forth movement of the water that continues (like water sloshing around in a shallow pan) is what in fact is called the seiche.
