A Polymer Clay Miniature Flowers Tutorial: 3D Roses: Buds to Blooms

This polymer clay tutorial is the first of others coming on miniature flowers created in polymer clay. I show you how to create a rose without having to create tons and tons of petals!! I find too many times roses are created with the idea there is no real end in sight or no real limit as to how many petals are needed to create a rose. Here, I give you an answer. And, I give you the different roses I create in different stages. I go into detail about the placement of petals on the roses I create, how to create the stems needed on these roses, etc.
I also hope you will RING THE BELL!! If you have already subscribed, but still didn’t ring the bell…Please, Do so! This way you will not miss out on any of my new videos, and you’ll be able to be one of the first who can make comments below on them!

When I first started playing with polymer clay I made the most perfect roses. I loved them. Years later, when I tried making them I couldn't remember what I did. You just reminded me! Yours are gorgeous!!! Thank you!!!

Whew!! LOLOL!! I have to say...I have been a little nervous about my instructions on this video!! And I am thrilled it has translated so well!! This is mainly because, roses were one of the very first things I ever created in polymer clay...and after creating these things so many times throughout the years, I wanted to get it just right! I am pretty pleased with it and truly looking forward to more videos on the miniature thing, and your feedback is VERY important to me! I don't get many comments and so, I like to know how it relates and is received by anyone who views my videos...So, again, truly, thank you, Clare!! :)

So easy! At least, you make it look so easy, Laura to make beautiful and realistic roses. Now I'm inspired to do a box top with roses. Thanks so much!!

Oh Sandra!! You are most welcome!! This was one of the first things I ever created in polymer clay and, so, it had to be one of the first miniatures I would be sharing in video. I truly hope you will have a wonderful time creating that box top!! Sending you my biggest hugs! :)

Thank you for that, dear lady!! Been soooo busy here! And I am glad they looked like they were easy to create. Anytime you do something the first time...it might not go well, but practicing is sooo key! And hopefully others will get into creating these roses like I did. I am looking forward to seeing you again soon. Sending you my biggest hugs! :)

Thank you so much, Sandria!! Thrilled you liked this!! I will tell you, that creating roses can be a little challenging. However, that being said...I reccommend getting a wad of clay and keeping it with you, in a plastic baggie. And when you get a moment where you are not doing too much...take out that clay and play with it, by trying to create the rose. And practice...everyone always gets better with practice. I personally use the clay as a stress reliever at times. Playing with it randomly...creating roses. And don't give up if it doesn't look perfect the first time around...even children have to learn to tie their shoes and never do it perfect the first time around. So, keep that in mind...and remember, I will also be here to cheer you on!! Sending you my hugs!! :)

These are really beautiful Laura. I know what I'll be having a go at tomorrow!! I notice your clay is really soft, is that helpful when making the roses? Do you prefer to work with soft clay in general? Thank you

Yes and yes when I can!! I prefer softer clays. Sculpey Original is where I started when I first started creating in polymer clay. That being said I also love my Kato Polymer Clay. And I love to use all the clays and I mix them together. But, yes, I prefer the softer clays in creating sculptural flowers, or anything miniature. The softer clays are easier to manipulate into the forms I want. So, I hope that helps, dear. Sending you my hugs! :)

Thank you so much, Miss Lori!! Bless you!! I hope they turned out well. Part of this is practice for me. I have been making roses for a VERY LONG TIME...LOLOLOL! I started in polymer clay back in 1994. And this was one of the things I worked on over and over again into my art. So, if you get frustrated...give yourself a break, lady. But remember, you can do it...things take time. Unfortunately...However, that said...check your clay too. Make sure your clay is not too soft. That can make a difference. Goo clay can make things difficult. Again, I hope I helped a little here...Sending you my biggest of hugs!! :)

Yes, Samantha... for the most part. The outside petals might be slightly bigger because they have to wrap around the whole of what I created. I hope this helps. Hugs! :)
