A Pipe Q & A - Answering a question from Aaron

I restarted my pipe smoking with Cult Blood Red Moon & I still really like it. But we all taste things differently! As to pipes I really have grown to like Mo. Meerschaum ,many styles & shapes & sizes and as u said in your video they don’t ghost and snook great! 👍👍😎

Hey Randy -- First-time watcher here. I really enjoyed this video. Very good advice, IMO. I mean this as a total compliment: you remind me of the late, great Alvy Moore who played the "Hank Kimball" character on the old TV show, "Green Acres." Your laugh is delightfully contagious, similar to his. You might want to do an impression of that character? I think it would be hilarious. Cheers!

Hello Randy and Aaron, Here’s what I think. First pipe I’d say go for a straight pipe but not a short pipe to avoid tongue bite and possibly another with a 9mm filter and start with those because you won’t get doddle and gloop as much as you may find at first with a bent pipe. I do however enjoy a bent pipe but nearly always when I’m out and about and nearly always smoke a straight pipe indoors. But don’t be tempted to go mad buying loads of pipes because they may end up as wall hangers and not smokers. To measure a pipe for my face I’ve in the past looked for a pipe that I liked the look of online and then got a bit of cardboard and cut it to the length and shape as advertised then done a dry run does it look too big when clenching holding etc as it gives you some idea especially if you can’t get to a shop and you only have the option to by online, believe me there are some pipes that just look ridiculous and can make the person smoking them look even worse. I have some pipes even now I won’t smoke when I trim my beard back and only smoke them again once I’ve got a good bit of growth back as they just don’t go with a close trim, sounds daft I know. Hey Aaron think of of a pair of glasses whether everyday or sunglasses, you wouldn’t just grab any pair without trying them on first to see how you look in them, well that’s my point, we want to feel good in what we wear and it’s the same for a pipe we want to feel good with the pipes we choose and that’s how I would choose a pipe when I first started. Well that’s my two pennies worth hope my little bit helped.

@@Ragamuffinpiper All good at this side Randy buddy, just received an email from the supplier I bought the Dockworker from and they have been outstanding they said they are going to refund me for the four tins of dockworker, no questions asked they said they weren’t aware of any problems but will contact the HU blenders which I believe is now KH as they took it over. But great result and excellent customer service. But were they aware of a problem🤔! Either way happy days but has put me off from buying anymore now. Have a great day.

Blab on, sir! Great to see some of the other pipes you enjoy Randy 👍 As a newbie, I’ve used eBay to sample some different pipe sizes and patterns. I’ve bought 8 so far (7 of those were under £16), and 3 of those turned out to be really great, 3 are grand but just not my thing, 1 is a total lemon, and 1 is fantastic! The fantastic one is a Morgan ‘Bones’ series Check Mook pattern. Got it for £26 and if I lost of damaged it, I would definitely seek out and happily pay full ticket (£45) for a new one. Worth a look…

You’ll definitely get at least 7 different answers 😂 I prefer Vulcanite stems because lucite is too hard and I’m a clencher that doesn’t like softie bits. So I’ve just come to terms with the extra maintenance needed to keep my stems black. I think I’m in the minority there.

howdy Aaron. answering your question ,make sure you have at least one corn cob pipe .i have severall but the gentleman is excellent to learn how to smoke pipe. they are low in price ,are verry forgiving and smoke wonderfull .normally after smoking briar (bruyere) you DO have to let it rest for a day .not the corncob though.have at least as many pipes as you smoke a day (for resting ) i highly reccomend real meerschaum as well. the rest is vanity ,how many or what they cost.I smoke for 30 years now ,and believe me, its hard to resist a beautifull pipe. let me know how your pipe smoke adventure continues :) love Bodi
