Two things: 1) once anyone invents time travel, instantly we will have always had time travel. 2) We have not prepared ourselves for the dramatic effect time travel could have on human languages. For example, how do you say that someone is planning to travel to the past to kill Hitler when it occurs in both the past and the future? A sentence like, "Matt is going to have killed Hitler," doesn't fit the bill at all. Every language will need a pantheon of new verb tenses in order for the language to survive and to prevent the human psyche from imploding.
