I gave myself a photography self assignment to photograph a unique object of modern architecture that is in decay and under debate. The architect of the interesting object is Maurice Nio, who sadly passed in 2023. This was an opportunity to photograph The Whale Jaw, before it disappears...

    Mmmm ... I'm wondering if the Whalebone is the victory of design over functionality. It looks like there's nowhere to get out of the wind. Might be better placed in Florida. In terms of cameras I often think that DSLRs reached their practical optimum around 2010, everything since then has really just be refining or disappearing down 'specialist' rabbit holes with functions that people rarely use or make no discernable difference in day-to-day photography. I like this format of choosing a short project and learning from it. We're all still photographic students.

    Call me stupid! I think I've been here about 20 times to bring my little girl to the hospital near this object... and ... I never noticed it... All these times I parked at the same place as you did, still I never ever saw this Whalejaw... I feel stupid!
