A Photography Journey Through Southern Texas
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video, I photograph the small towns and landscapes of southern Texas during a drive from San Antonio to El Paso with my Nkon D850. I shoot in towns such as Marfa, Del Rio, Fort Stockton, Alpine and El Paso with a separate trip to New Mexico to photograph Alomogorda and White Sands National Park.

Very interesting. You don't know how much English photographers yearn for big locations like this. Great road trip.

Texas is huge. One state, six days and I only saw a piece of it!
Very cool locations. Love the old abandoned buildings and the cinematic processing.

You must share my aesthetic.. not for everyone, but I loved it too.
I live in Texas and have taken your route several times. It is a trip back into history and culture. Great photos and unique perspectives. Thanks for your travelogue.

Thanks Jim! It is an amazing region!
Very nice places. In combination with the boring skies it was perfect for "Deadpan Photography". The white desert was my fav, great shots

Thanks so much! The sand dunes were fun but tough due to the wind.
Thanks Jay. Being from Texas, I enjoyed the video very much! Texas is so big, there's almost an infinite number of small towns similar to the ones you photographed. I liked the photo of the gas pumps at 16:12, with 87 octane selling for $1.12/gallon!

Cheap gas! I wonder was year that was. I am definitely going to return to TX and explore another part of the state.
Nice work, Jay. I used to live in Alamogordo and would shoot weddings/portraits out at White Sands. Such a beautiful place.

So jealous. It’s beautiful! I need to go back and hopefully it will be a little less windy. I would like to have hiked out further, but I was nervous about getting lost in the White out conditions.
Very interesting places and images. Nice to see some art déco in these areas. Thank you for sharing yoir experience. It is certainly an inspiring work. Cheers!

great collection of images Jay, especially loved the ones you captured of the urban decay across the various towns and an interesting finish too with at the white sands location. Overall a fascinating insight of the rural areas of Texas

Great video Jay! There is something special about those sleepy West Texas small towns and you've captured it wonderfully as always. I've watched this a few times now, really a great road trip! I would love to do that one day myself. Have a great rest of the week!

Thanks so much Paul! It was as good as I hoped it would be. If you are interested, I can give you my itinerary. I did it pretty cheaply. I used miles to fly to Texas, rented a cheap car, and stayed at Hampton Inns and one Holiday Inn.
Stunning video, Jay! Love the long vlog format. I hope you will post more of these type of videos!

Could be a separate video! Thanks!!
Very nice video Jay. Learnd a lot to see how you work in the field. For example you tell witch lens you are using and to see how the result is.

Very interesting journey Jay. A lot of great images. In your opinion, worth the time, effort and cost to get there ?

Thanks, Warren! For me, it was absolutely worth the time and effort. It wasn’t that expensive since I used miles to fly to Texas and I generally stayed at reasonably cheap hotels. The subject matter is not for everyone but I really enjoyed it.
