A PATTERN ERROR THAT MIGHT THROW YOU OFF TOO - McCall's 8281
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
McCall's 8281 is a spring pattern that I loved as soon as I saw it released. I decided to make view C, and I used a fall fabric, black corduroy. I found a mistake in the pattern that I share with you. I also share how I worked around the mistake.

Hi, Lauri. You’re most welcome. Thank YOU!!
I love how your dress turned out. That leather pocket adds a cool element to the front. That wash away thread is really neat. I'd love to try it. The dress looks great on you and it's so versatile because you can add a long sleeve tee under it for the fall and winter months.

Thank you. I think the dress is versatile too. I can see wearing something under it, as you mentioned, and even wearing a jacket or cardigan on top. I’m looking forward to wearing it in different ways. I hope you try the wash away thread. It’s really great and comes in handy. Thanks again.

I hate pockets anywhere around the chest area. I love the dress though. It's so classy. I don't think it needs the pocket.

Hi, Patricia. Thank you so much. I can’t wait to wear it more as it gets cooler.
ooh, I really love this dress! That little leather pocket gives it great style- I never knew about the washaway tape!!
@Manecoarse

The washaway tape is so helpful. I love it. Thank you so much. I love using scraps when I can.
I just made this pattern and ended up taking some fullness out of the skirt. I found it to be too much fabric making it too shapeless. You have a nice trim body so you can carry it off. I also added blue gingham trim around the neckline and hem. The fabric was a blue floral and it resulted in an interesting detail.

Nice. It sounds lovely. Thanks for sharing.
You said you made an extra small. What size dress would you normally wear? Thanks. Looking at the pattern pieces, it looks like it is plenty big. I usually wear a size 4 or sometimes a size 6 so an extra small is what I'm leaning toward. Thanks. Your video is great! Dress looked so nice on you.

Hi. Thank you. Like you, I normally wear a 4 in ready-to-wear garments. The dress is roomy. I hope that helps. I think you are going to love this pattern. So cute. Thanks again.

That was a nice touch to add the pocket on the bodice. I'm inspired to give this pattern a try. Thanks! Also, I'm definitely adding dissolving basting thread to my sewing kit.

Just observed the dress, mcCalls 8281, cute and fits very well as always. Just curious to know do you read about different items to use such as the wash away thread, or question the employees at the store. Such great ideas to make your outfits and creations easier. Such a joy to watch you having fun!! More exciting than the movies, for it's someone I love so dearly, and enjoy watching the beginning and end results. Keep it coming! Love Auntie Irene

Thank you so much. Yes. I read and learn about different things. I browse through things on the internet and learn about different things that way too. You are so sweet. Thank you. I’m so glad you enjoy the videos. It definitely motivates me to keep making them. Love you more.
I’ve just got this pattern and went to pattern review and found your video. Your dress is awesome. I have some heavyish linen. Do you think it would work if I used the pattern bodice for a top? Is it quite loose fitting? Thanks in anticipation of your reply and thanks for all the tips. The wash away thread is on my shopping list. 😊

Hi, Kay. Thank you for clicking the link on Pattern Review. I have a feeling that the linen that you have will work as a top. I do think the top/bodice is loose fitting, and I think you are going to love the wash away thread. So handy.
