Tbh, its rarity makes those shoes expensive. back in the day, there were dozens of shoemakers in individual towns and people can easily find out it was actually cheaper compared to nowadays.

Because the transport costs are insane. If we indeed went back to this, working with locally produced materials, it would be cheaper, we would be financing individual craftmen and local produce. Capitalism now-a-days is a crime against humanity.

@@AnarchistPoopIts Not transport costs, These are basically basically non existing anymore. What makes these shoes so expensive is availability. One craftsman takes a day or more to make a pair of shoes where as a maschine could do it in mere minutes. The time it takes for a shoe maker to learn the craft, to apply it and to actually make the shoe is what makes them so expensive not transportation.

If you've never had a bespoke shoe or a bespoke suit I say put it on your bucket list. If it's not something that you can afford yet I recommend getting a suit that fits you well and then take it to a tailor. I actually recommend taking all of your clothes to a tailor, you will be surprised at how good you look in your clothes. It's usually not very expensive; I pay anywhere from $7 to $40 depending on the material type, the garment, and the amount of work that will have to go into it. Look through reviews and find someone. You can usually find them at a dry cleaner, but make sure they have high ratings in their tailoring. It will make you look and feel like a million bucks. If you ever try this you will thank me later.

A friend of mine broke his leg so bad in an automobile accident his right leg is shorter than his left. They aren't quite this level of bespoke but very high quality custom made boots. Anything less and he will be in some much pain he would be down and out for the day in hours. His boots gives him the ability to work all day without anything more than Ibuprofen. But it costs as much as a new car. I'll never make enough to justify the expense but find the craft fascinating. I flinched when I seen them take a knife to a pair they make just to refine the fit for the pair you ultimately take home.

I wonder if they do COMPLETELY custom shoes?? Cuz i had a pair by a certain brand that i bought 5~6different times!? Then they stopped making them!? (White; (slightly*)pointed square-toe; 5/8"heel; and python style faux snakeskin[small cuts in the leather*] on vamp(not sides*) loafer*! ((The seam is in the same place as a moccasin*; so only 4 panels* Vamp, legt, right, and small piece on back of heel* They came with rubber soles, but i had it repsoled with proper leather soles!! (They were made By ALDO™) Not expensive or custom.. But fit PERFECTLY in a European 47* Rugged enough to wear Hiking! And enough herl yo ho horseback riding! And still a nimble heel i can DRIVE with! And stil simple enough panels to wear i can just wipe it off and its good as new!!?? Wear with a pair of jeans!? And theyre formal enough to wear with a SUIT!!! lol godamn i miss those shoes!!?? (I only wear white shoes*) (Except with a suit..!? I have blk&brn) But if im not wearing a suit, or just wearing a suit in a more formal setting like a funeral or business meeting, where fashion is irrelevant* or almost shows your lack of interest to the business at hand*! (Like youre preoccupied with fashion over doing your job**) But if working at a higher end department store like macy*s and Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales, its a more fashionable environment and its more acceptable*! But white shoes are just MY thing.. Idk y but, STG✋🏻 my self esteem is directly correlated to the whiteness of my shoes* lol Currently theyre Fresh out the box and havnt been dirty yet* All i can find now, are moc.moc loafer* driving shoes!? (Flat sole*, with some tred/sole on the Back of my heel**; to have your doot resting on sole, not leather*) ((Picture your feet moving moving the brake and gas pedal! See what your heel is doing** where it hits the floor, theres another lil square bit of sole/tred)) Or just google "driving loafers"*/"moc.moc driving loafers"*) We need a resurgence of old long lasting NON-DISPOSABLE* goods that are made in our country!! Of all sorts of stuff! Like tools and leather goods, etc, also cast iron functional things thst don't break easy!? Like a nut grinder!? It almost looks like it would be used for making hamburger,!? But you can grind hazel or peaNut Butter easily,] even just cast iron skillets!? stuff we invest in that will cost less money by lasting longer, by being reusable! Some things, to be sanitary, are best disposable*! But certain things can be almost a family heirloom!?!? _I Hate "Planned Obsolescence"!!!!_ *BRING BACK AMERICAN CRAFTSMANSHIP!!*
