FM Ayub set the tone for the disintegration of Pakistan. Ayub Khan introduced the military establishment in the politics of Pakistan. One incident of the 1970 elections may have sped the disintegration but Ayub Khan had already sowed the seeds. It is very unfair to blame Bhutto because it was Gen Yahya Khan and his military Junta who were running the country with absolute power.

The historical reality is that both Suhrawardy and Mujib always wanted an independent united state of 'Free Bengal'. The latter even reached an agreement with Bengal Congress president K. S Roy to this effect but the proposal was shot down by Nehru (see 'Transfer of Power Documents, Vol X, p.244 - 44, 250, 452'). In Dec. 1962 Mujib wrote a letter to Nehru asking for military help for staging a coup in East Pakistan and later jed a delegation to Tripura for the same purpose (see 'Agartala Mamla Shaikh Mujib O Banglar Bidroho, App. 7, by Faiz Ahmed and 'Inside RAW: The Story of India's Secret Service. p. 48').

Your comments contradict the facts. Fatima Jinnah appointed Sheikh Mujim as her campaign manager for East Pakistan. Suhrawardy and Sheikh Mujib, both were true Pakistanis but we treated them unfairly and with disrespect. Both wanted all provinces full regional autonomy within the federation of Pakistan. They never wanted a separate country. West Pakistan treated East Pakistan as their colony and the military action of 1971 forced them to go their separate way.

Captain Abdul Majed Abdul Majed (22 June 1948 - 12 April 2020) was a Bangladeshi military officer who was convicted for his role in the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding president of Bangladesh. Conviction and execution On 14 August 1975, Majed and other officers looted weapons from the Bengal Lancers armory. On 15 August 1975, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members were killed in the 15 August 1975 Bangladesh coup d'état. Majed and the other officers met at the Bangabhaban and created a new government with Khandaker Mushtaq Ahmed in charge. He was part of the team which attacked the residence of Abdur Rab Serniabat, brother-in-law of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. On 2 November 1975, Majed and the other army officers involved in the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman met Khandaker Mushtaq Ahmed at the Bangabhaban. There a decision was made to carry out the Jail Killing to kill four national leaders of Bangladesh Awami League. The leaders were Abul Hasnat Muhammad Qamaruzzaman, Muhammad Mansur Ali, Syed Nazrul Islam, and Tajuddin Ahmed. In 1998, Majed was sentenced to death for the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by a trial court. On 19 November 2009, Majed's death sentence was confirmed by the Supreme Court of Bangladesh along with 12 other convicts. Five of the convicts were executed on 27 January 2010. They were AKM Mohiuddin Ahmed, Bazlul Huda, Mohiuddin Ahmed, Syed Farooq Rahman, and Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan. Another convict, Abdul Aziz Pasha, died in Zimbabwe. Mujibur Rahman was a separatist leader. He was never in love with United Pakistan. His actions and words spoke quite louder. Mujib was not a statesman and visionary leader like Jinnah. His collaboration with India is no longer a secret. After the separation of East Pakistan he had shown his true colors and admitted his close relationship with New Delhi. 1971’s elections were massively rigged by Awami League goons. Civil administration was completely controlled by Awami League. Bangladesh’s creation was impossible without Indian funding and active military involvement in East Pakistan. Sheikh Hassina correctly said that Bangladesh owes its freedom to India.
