A One Dollar Burlap Bag To Beautiful Summer Door Decor
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Dee, a member of the Maymay Family sent me a burlap croaker sack she purchased for one dollar. This is what I came up with. I really like how this came out but I also think it would look great not painted. Thanks Dee! Sorry it took so long to get done! Enjoy!!

I know what your talking about, If you want to use those bags you can if you coat them with a matte medium like Mod Podge before you cut them. That will help them hold together. For that matter you could use water and Elmer's glue. Thanks for watching!
Loved this project! I just made one with yellow pedals
Pretty and unique!

Linda Hutchings They are very common in the South. Used to, all of our animal food came in them. Now, people keep the ones they have so they are harder to find to use for crafts.
OMG, that is so darling. I can see that on the back porch door or on the screen door . It is perfect using those burlap bags. Thanks for sharing.
awesome project!! so very creative love it : )

I love this but wondering why you used gesso instead of acrylic paint?
I truly truly Love this. It's a Beautiful!
This is very pretty! Sunflowers are my favorite flower, so this would be perfect for that! Thanks Maymay! Hugs
Beautiful. Rustic charm. 😊
Enjoy your videos, you make it seem very easy to do! Not sure how my results would compare with yours. I'm a number person and am amazed at how everything is in size proportion. Is there any ratio as to the diameter of the circle to the length and width of the petals? If not, than all hope for me is lost. ;-[ Please continue sharing your crafting with us.

There can be, if you take the circle and split it into equal sized pie pieces then measure the widest point of the pie piece. Make sure you widest point of the petal is at least that wide. Then they will for sure touch at each center point and you will know exactly how many petals you need. I hope this makes sense...

This is adorable! Do you remember the sizes of the petals? I just HAVE to make this!
Why Gesso, instead of white paint? What does the gesso do to the burlap surface that paint won't? Do you know where the term "Croaker Sack" came from? Boy I'm full of questions today. lol Very cute little door hanging. Maybe it should be spectacular! lol TFS Hugs, Jess

I used the Gesso because it is heartier than white paint. I felt that white paint would soak up so fast. I think you could use either product I just didn't want to use so much paint. I think that croaker came from frog catching or "giggin" as they call it down here. It is truly a feed sack but my Papa always called it a croaker sack. I love the questions!! Thanks for watching and for letting me know you like it!

***** Thanks! The "croaker sack" makes sense now! I couldn't figure out how a frog would have anything to do with burlap. Dah! lol I actually went frog giggin with my uncle Charlie in KY when I was a little girl. (maybe 3 or 4). He didn't put them in a sack, he just strung them. My Dad was my step father and he was born and raised in Pgh Pa. ie: city boy, who was afraid of any kind of bug. Uncle Charlie gave the stringer to me and said here show your daddy. I chased him all the way around the house saying look daddy, look! lol And he kept running. That was a funny family story for a long time. You always send me down memory lane. Thanks a bunch. Hugs, Jess

I would have been running with your Daddy!
Very cute! Wonder if flat spray paint would work for painting the petals? If I decide to try this, I may do a test. As a side note, I had to LOL, because I thought you were calling the sack a "Kroger" sack (which, if you aren't familiar, is a chain of grocery stores -- not sure if they're in your area). I was like, "Why in the world do they call that a Kroger sack?" HA! We have always called them feed sacks. I thinks it's cool how geography affects our language. Thanks for sharing.

Flat white spray paint would totally work and cut off much of the time. Kroger sack! Too funny! I agree with the language differences, I love to hear what others call things. I think that is why I love British entertainment so much. Besides the fact that they are hilarious!

What kind of Gesso did you use?
do you still use this chum? I often wonder when I rewatch older videos if the item you've made are still used etc!
where do you find Kroger burlap sack?
Love your videos :-) I have Kroger store her in Houston where I live. Where do you find the bags? Do I need to ask for them or are they in a certain area of the store. THanks !

This sack is called a croaker sack, I think it has something to do with catching frogs. LOL we get them at feed and seed stores. Thanks!

Annemarie Reyes, that was so funny. I also thought she said Kroger.😂 She's so creative.
I apologize for asking because you may have said.....why did you use gesso?
You might have to explain "croaker sack" to those who aren't southern.
What is jesso?
