A notorious cult - The fight for justice against Colonia Dignidad | DW Documentary

At the Colonia Dignidad compound in Chile, Paul Schäfer ruled over his followers with an iron fist. Exhausting work, violence, and abuse dominated daily life. During the Pinochet dictatorship, political prisoners were tortured and murdered there.
Decades of human rights abuses at Colonia Dignidad made the settlement notorious around the world. Horst Schaffrik still lives at the compound, and says: "The sect's structures are in place." In 1961, the settlement's founder, Paul Schäfer, started building a totalitarian religious community that was completely cut off from the outside world. This documentary investigates the influence of Schäfer's reign of terror, which is still felt even today.
Filmmaker Matthias Ebert interviews Willi Malessa, who was forced to dig up skeletons in the 1970s, and then watched as the bones were burned to hide evidence of the atrocities. But the remains of political prisoners are still said to be buried there -- and Malessa wants to help find them.
Many former leaders of Colonia Dignidad refuse to take part in any investigations -- and they've stayed silent about the alleged mass graves. Meanwhile, the sect's financial structures are still in place: agricultural businesses, a hotel, and real-estate companies are combined in a corporation that has publicly-traded stock. Schaffrik calls this a "diabolical structure." He says that former cult members like him worked with Schäfer to build up the huge company -- but only few benefit from it today.
This documentary investigates the long shadow cast by Colonia Dignidad.

It shows even more than this film....and sadly, yes, no one has been compensated bar a token sum given by the German gov, and the search for DNA have been halted again, as those in government in charge of the excavations, happen to also be 'friends' of Colonia Dignidad.... a never ending search for the missing, not even their names have been revealed by members of the sect who participated in their disappearance. The last of the leaders involved in torture and the disappearance of some 30 men and women, died in jail last month without revealing anything.

The sad part of Chile's Pinochet history is that many powerful countries helped, knew by cooperation and assisted that man with his horrifying violence against his own people. Germany opened up a bit. Yet the USA still living la vida loca acting like innocent by standards. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger's embraced the Pinochet regime, despite its ongoing abuses and killings. All for the sake of manipulating Latin America's economies- negating prosperity in the name of powerful empire America, taking down Allende and CIA conducting massive clandestine operations [coups, killings, supporting regimes] to undermine the democratically elected socialist governments . If the American people would be interested, I mean really interested in the real history of how their country became so powerful… All would be vomiting!! Great documentary, keep the good work!

We have similar happened in The PHILIPPINES the ones who did not follow through what The Drug Lords said. They were killed then buried under ground then the DrugLords built his house on top of the buried people . Some of those Kidnapped Victims were Virgin young girls offered by Drug Lords to Corrupt Generals to cover their bad deeds after that they cemented the feet then transport those young dead girls to the Mindanao Sea and maybe in other Provinces did the same to their kidnapped girls dropped them anywhere to the deepest sea. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte Administrations did the hideous job to those criminals but the Drugs was minimized . Soon the Philippines will implement good governance the people themselves helps to stop The Drugs . In God's Hands we Pray. God Willing. It will clear out when Philippines Citizens helps as a Watchmen to stop the circulations of Drug businesses to establish Good Governance by The New President. We have a brighter future. God Willing. I am praying for the family of those people who were killed that haven't received Justice for their loved ones. Someday God will resurrect those who are dead and God will give them New Bodies the Loved ones will see them with no more bullet holes in their bodies. Their Bodies will be perfect the way God created them . God knew where they are now. Satan is the cause of All Evils of this World. Soon God will put away Satan into the Darkest and Deepest pit . Satan can no longer destroy Humanity. God will restore all who died into Alive Being with Perfect Bodies and we will have Reunion. Hallelujah AMEN Revelation 22:20 Yes , I AM COMING SOON. It's a great documentary, but I think that the title is not ideal and could be improved. Few people are interested in the business of cults, people know what cults do, in particular in South America. However, Germany's involvement in the abuse of forced child labor in Chile would have a different impact on your viewers and attract more people to see what it's all about, in my opinion anyway.
