It is possible with assistance but they don’t and won’t due to the fact that the proces needs to sanctified and blessed by the tech priest to keep the machine soul happy

The power armour seems to work like a late medieval full plate harness, there's lots of interlocking pieces and parts that makes up the whole harness, a fully armoured medieval Knight could only remove his leg and torso armour by himself, I imagine it's pretty similar for Astartes power armour they would need assistance in taking it off, I'm sure in a tactical situation that would require they would have a Techpriest, chapter serfs etc to take it off or they'd just help each other in and out of the armour in the rare situations they'd ever need to remove it in the field. Although there's probably a release mechanism built into the armours interface as well to easily loosen pieces off for removal.

Armoring a space marine is normally a long process that takes probably hours but when its a emergency or they need to be fast for some reason it can probably done in a relatively small amount of time

@@johngellare3507 There's a canon story that describes how Custodes can twist themselves and hunch enough that with some robes, they look like an ordinary person and fool the Imperial Palace's security. It's probably fair to assume Marines who specialize in infiltration can do something similar, especially since they're quite a bit smaller. Else they can just pass themselves off as just another roid-raging/mutated/abhuman Imperial, there's plenty of those other than ogryns.

I mean, think about it like this. Imagine a car without its lights on at night. Only the moonlight, no street lamps. This car is is speeding very fast. Sure, you may hear it coming, but with how fast its coming you don't have time to react even if you know the general direction its coming from.

Exept every example you gave the predators have camo space marines do not use camouflage they use almost entirely bright or verry dark colours

@@jackstewart2258 That isn't entirely true. Some chapters see going into combat in anything other than their full parade regalia as dishonorable; but others see not using camo as silly. I have a conceptually difficult time believing Raven Guard aren't using all the concealment tricks that they can imagine; and the game rules for that chapter even bear that out.

As a non-shitpost answer, yes, if OPFOR is competent. They'd fail to report in, scouts would be deployed, auspexes trained on the area, etc. OPFOR would know something is wrong, even if they don't know the exact details. But to continue not shitposting, that might be enough, if your objectives are to get a good look at something and then haul ass back home. Navy SEAL does that sort of thing as a real world example of stealth + shooting reconnaissance. But your time is very limited, depending on how put together your enemy is.

More to the point, stealth requires patience and a slow approach. Space marines are too small in numbers for that to be worthwhile. Their doctrine calls for rapid airborne or orbital deployment, cutting off a portion of the enemy force, followed by a swift and overwhelming shock assault, and then immediately disengaging before the enemy can concentrate against them.

Sophisticated tech, a very deep understanding of camouflage and obviously, consider "stealth" is not just hiding behind a tree. They scout ahead, pick a place for an ambush and strike quickly.

Well, some SM chapters have whats called Reiver Squads. They wear the Mark X Phobos pattern, a light ceramite armor with silent motors. These SM sacrifice the protection a normal armor has for speed and stealth, so, when some chapters want to be stealthy, they send those squads. That’s just one reason of many of how can SM be stealthy

Props to the GIGACHAD who made the T'au voice, it sounds exactly like them. Wonderful!

There is a Space marine chapter, the name eludes me but basically before they are given their armor, they do like a 1 year survival training with nothing but a knife. Though I think another chapter does something similar except the space marine has to find pieces across the planet to assemble their armor.

Ravenguard have a invisiblity power that makes you not notice them. But this must be what it looks like when it doesn't work on you.

The space marine being that close to begin with is plenty stealthy… that Tau is just deaf and blind for not hearing or seeing that armor creep up behind him to stand behind the tree, in a forest full of crunchy leaves and twigs

the thought of Space Marines voluntarily stripping off their armour for extra stealth is hilarious.

There are 2 ways to scout. -Make sure you are never noticed. -Kill everything that notices you and make sure and info you gather is utilized in a timely fashion. I could definately envision Space Marines going the Steiner scout swuad route path of Scouting

In the same way a Battletech Steiner Scout Squad does it: No one can report your presence from the bottom of a crater :)

If there's nobody left, then there's nobody to say you weren't being stealthy.

It's stealth if no one is left alive to see you.

Corvus had the ability to just *snaps finger* be undetectable. You could be standing in the room with a 10' giant in power armor and not see, hear or smell him. I wonder if the Raven Guard have a lesser version of that ability.

That's why the _Emperor's Children_ are the stealthiest Legion, they are already always naked and prefer to take you on from the rear anyway.

Can't see why not. The armor is really heavy, but space marines are really strong and tough; they can turn off the powerplant and drape themselves with a ghillie net then slowly crawl to where they can set up a good ambush spot. Turn the powerplant back on moments before springing the ambush, and Bob's your uncle.

@@lowkeyarki7091 I get that. Which is the reason I gravitated to the Space Vampires; in my mind's eye I'm envisioning them dropping out of the stratosphere on columns of flame then ripping apart the defenders of a hardpoint that is blocking an Imperial Guard advance.

Being big doesn’t mean you can’t be stealthy. Elephants are surprisingly stealthy when they don’t want to be found. That said, the space marines, painting, their armor in bright colors isn’t doing them any favors.

This is your daily reminder that misdirection is just as important to stealth as size, silence, and the ability to not be seen.
