    The mate Jocob is the best I’ve ever seen! Working tangles and handle rods like a magician. Olympic level athlete in snelling hooks and tying chain knots as well. Like which mate you’ve seen tie FG and chain knot for you? No one except Jacob

    Tell you a story. I am 80 and was born and raised in Coconut Grove and the key. My dad worked really hard and commercial fished on his days off from the Miami Fire Department to make a living. I was on the boat when I was 2 weeks old and fished for a living most of my young life until I was 24. One time when I was around 6 we caught a bunch of Flying Fish. Just to try because it was just after WW2 and things were not on grocery shelves in abundance yet we tried to butterfly a couple of them and smoke them with the Mullet. Didn't taste well at all. They were very oily and strong tasting. The meat just swiveled up to almost nothing. Great bait but not human food. Ha, Ha.

    Tie to the hooks solid ring. Then splitring to the jig. If you want a swivel, put it above a 2-3' bite leader, especially at night.

    If I was asked if I was in to fishing the answer would have been no, but after watching your KZread channel I think I am now! To be fair though the subject matter could have been anything, it's your enthusiasm for your chosen career that I like about your videos. After watching your backstory in another video, I think you two are truly inspirational especially to young girls who might be uncertain as to which path to explore in their career. I also think your channel should be shown at every career talk at school to show there are careers other than the mainstay. Well done and keep up the great work. and this is all from a 60-year-old being appreciative of 25-year-olds!

    Tough break on the split ring, which is why most people recommend to tie your main line to the solid ring. I have also seen some triple wire split rings to use when you have to tie to the split ring. An AU company makes some swivel with two solid rings on it, might be handy for jigs.

    Crazy how different east vs. west coast fishing is. We rig up whole flying fish spread eagle and skip them on the surface with a kite to catch 200+ lb bluefin during the day. What is usually caught with a filleted flying fish on the bottom?

    Awesome video! I have two questions. 1) When your cut bait gets bit but you don't set the hook, how do you know when to leave it in the water or bring the hook back up to see if you have anything left? 2) When you're hooked, you sometimes put the rod end on your lower abdomen. Does that not hurt? I did that one time and it was painful! Did I do something wrong? 😂

  • @GaleForceTwins

    @GaleForceTwins

    1. It’s a bit of a gamble but if you leave it down for a few minutes and don’t get a bite relatively quickly then I’d bring it up! 2. We just do 😂🤷🏼‍♀️ but we usually try to use the Cush it!

    In my opinion your gear is to small for the type of fishing you are doing on a head boat. You should not be running around the boat. I am seeing to many tangles with other fishermen. If I were fishing near you I would be upset. When you are fishing on a head boat it's meat fishing not sportfishing.
