Am I being dumb or does x = -3? (-3)^2=9 (-3)^3=-27 9--27 = 9+27 9+27=36 If you're wondering how I got it, trial and error. I figured it needed to be negative as it needed to be larger when to the third power than when to the second.

Yea that’s the correct real answer. What the video did was interesting, but a lot of the times rational root theorem /w guess and check works faster.

x^2 + x^3 = 36 1^3 = 1 2^3 = 8 3^3 = 27 4^3 = 64. 64 > 36, x

The original question is x^2 - x^3 = 36 (not plus). Also, x still wouldn’t equal 36 in the equation you provided?
