I love this kitchen, the older I get I stick to old quality. Much of it today is pure junk and costs a fortune if you want quality wood and craftsmanship. I feel the same way about the very old bathrooms, which have a certain soul and coziness from this time. Yes, I am almost ready to cry when I see how people break down quality that could last even more years but could be made cozy with warm colors and special things for interior design. I can feel that when age starts to press and you don't make a big deal of food anymore, I wouldn't invest in new because everything today has to be glossy shelves etc. and requires constant cleaning because everything is clearly visible. I would enjoy decorating this kitchen cozily because I have always spent a lot of time in the kitchen with the family and no one should be afraid of scratching these thin modern glossy kitchens.. Many people spend thousands of money on a kitchen which is actually an exhibition. where people only heat ready meals in the microwave,

It is so wonderful to see everyone pitching in and working to help get your grandparent's home ready for them to move in. I thought your dad was impressive, keeping busy and working so hard at an age when many men would choose to just sit back and relax and leave the work to others, but now we see your grandfather, a man in his 80's is also willing and able to take on a job that needs to be done without hesitation. Your family truly is full of talented, hard-working individuals! I think it is wonderful that you will have 4 generations all within a close proximity. I would have loved being so close to my grandparents and great-grandparents when I was your boy's age. Sadly, we were 1000's of miles apart.

I watched your tour through this new acquisition and think I would make sure there is wide enough access through doorways in case a wheelchair becomes a necessity in the future!!! Come to think of it I would put an elevator in to the garage area too…they make some pretty interesting one for home use now that are easy to install!!! If you use acrylic caulk and acrylic paint, you can mix the 2 to color match the walls. Use air pressure to force the caulk out of the tube, mix the two, and put it right back into the same tube. The caulk dries ever so slightly lighter than the paint alone, but reduces the need to cut in paint after caulking. ☺️

My aunt & uncle's house was like that. Built on a built-up hill at the end of a cul-de-sac. The main floor was where the front door lies and the upstairs of the house. When you drove down the hill you came to the garage and back door. The kitchen & dining room sat on top of the garage, which was built into the hill. The master bedroom & en suite was on the main floor with 2 bedrooms and a house bathroom in the hall. The stairway took up a large part of the house and went down into the den with 2 more bedrooms and a half bath down there along with the laundry and storage room. My uncle was an engineer and rocket scientist, and carpentry was his main hobby. He built an oak bookcase along the inside wall of the den that was just beautiful. I say was, because they are both deceased, but the house stands. Because of the configuration of the house on the hill theirs was the only house with a garage on their block.

I am so impressed with Yannis. He's always there, watching, helping, learning, like a sponge. What a valuable apprenticeship he's getting, and he is even picking up some English. Keep it up Yannis. 😊 I'm watching from near the southern shore of Lake Superior.

Billy, I think it is wonderful that you are willing to help out others especially older family members with their projects as well. Your extended family is terrific and your team is just beautiful to come with you. You have a strong sense of character that is very becoming in you as a man. Gwendolyn should be very proud of you and your ethics. Have a great day

My partner would give his right arm to be a master Faulkner. He has watched so many videos and still makes an absolute mess. 🤦‍♀️😭💕 The kitchen is beautiful so much attention to detail.

I love the warmth of the convent kitchen even on a gloomy day. Its lovely to see you and the team helping your dad out. It will all get done in the end and we get the joy of seeing it develop!

Greatgrands nearby for the boys. How wonderful. I have great memories of visiting my grandmother. So interesting to watch other folks process. Hope the kitchen cabinets find a great new home. Refinish or paint the cupboards, change the hardware and they will look brand new. Great admiration for Simon. Mitered corners and doing cove cuts are a puzzle to me.

The whole Petherick family and extended family are truly amazing, wonderful people. You help anyone that needs it. Simon is a master at all he does. Yanis is an asset to you he just gets in and does it. Your dad, wow, what a man wonderful to see him getting stuck in and just cracking on. We need more people like your family and friends. Thank you for sharing your wonderful family and vlog with us.

Yannis is really getting a wide variety of experience thanks to Billy and Simon! Great to see him learning these skills. Is there a General Contractor license in France like there is in the US that ultimately he could attain?

Congratulations to your grandparents and their new house! Doesn't it always figure? If the new house was ready to move into, they wouldn't have got an offer so quickly. Because the new house isn't ready, they got a very speedy offer! This is an almost American house. Change out the garage doors for fold-back patio doors and you'd have a walk out basement. A couple of bedrooms, a bathroom and a family room and it would definitely be like an American house.

Ryan could use those cabinets in his kitchen - It's almost the same size. Will their laundry room be downstairs or will it be part of their kitchen? This was a real treat to see 3 Generations of Pethericks all working together!

I remember this house from Sadie and Mo's vlog last year. The living room was bright yellow and they began some renovations including painting. I guess they stopped working on it when they started on their convent apartment.

The hook you put in the ceiling. The idea behind that is that you leave the hook in the clip that goes in the ceiling, you then fold the two sides down put throw the hole in the ceiling then let them go and they spread out to anchor the hook. I hope that makes sense.
