@@ronski4059 Leffen's way more nerdy than Zomba. Leffen legit gets into beef with people over mundane things like whether or not it's better to L cancel with the Z button or L/R. Also the only thing nerdy about Zomba is his voice. I feel like it's silly to say someone's nerdy for one quality. If one quality is enough to make someone nerdy does that mean that everyone who wears glasses is a nerd?

it’s been a min since a rob has won a tourney of this caliber. super impressive play from zomba and a huge reminder of how strong the character is. heartbroken tweek couldn’t take it all the way and the fact that zackray and leo didn’t make top 8

Genesis X proves to me that - Corrin is not only the best FE character in smash but arguably the best Swordie as well. - SHADIC is top 5 US only behind Zomba, Tweeks and Light. - Japan and NA's skill gap is not that far. Good luck guys!!! I believe you!!! Edit:) Thanks for pointing out Mexico and Dominican Republic being part of NA as well. My non-American and lack of geography knowledge needs that!!!

I'm assuming you're talking about the United States specifically when you say that Shadic's top 5 NA, especially since you didn't mention Spargo or Sonix who are definitely still the 2 best NA players. Even then, if we're only talking about the US, I'd put Shadic at 6th behind Zomba, Tweek, Light, Dabuz, and MuteAce. He's improved a lot over the last 6 months though, so I'm fully expecting him to be top 5 US by the end of the year (assuming he doesn't have a MuteAce Japan trip level dip in results). Also just want to throw in there that I agree with your other 2 points.

And Isn't Dominican Republic count as south? Again correct me on that if I'm wrong. DABUZ I think could possibly be better than Shadic. Although I would say the start of the year favours SHADIC more. I think same with MUTEACE. Shadic just have better start of the year. Also the fact that SHADIC beat him convincingly in King of Bomb.

@@riqua27 No steve made it to top 8, nor kazuya and a bunch of other common meta characters, i dont think its a good argument to say that x character didnt make it into the top 8 of one tournament, and therefore isnt good. Also Sparg0 used aegis a bunch this tourney, including in top 8. In fact, id say that the Sparg0 aegis sets were more impactful and important than the corrin he pulled out for sonix, that lost. Its more that aegis is hard to main, and easier to comain/secondary since theyre a lot easier to pick up.

I know people are trying their best to compare Zomba to Leffen right now but… If you know anything about leffen, you probably already know these players has absolutely NOTHING alike and that’s a good thing lol

fun fact: every person in the top 8 except for Tweek had to win at least one game 5 to make it there (and Tweek had to win one against Tea to advance in top 8). The quality of competition here was amazing and makes me excited for the future of Ult

I want to say that zomba won by his insane survivability and initiation. Rob hard mus are ones where he gets combo'ed to death or 70+ percent. characters like luigi, bayo, and gnw absolutely destroy rob when they get their hands on him. Diddy, fox, aegis, cloud, and sonic don't really do that. They beat you in neutral and keep you in disadvantage for 10 years but rob is heavy and has a good recovery to stay alive long enough for zomba to find an opening and catch like a jump and get the zombair and kill them at 70%. Its honestly insane how consistent he got those zombairs. Zomba is so good at surviving and initiating that you need to cheese out a stock against him to win. shoutouts loaf for beating nietono tilde and nearly beating kola, Minnesota pride and tweek cause even though every bad mu he was supposed to face got upsetted(thanks niko, tarik, and shadic) he got a pretty harsh losers run. riddles, tea, and light is definitely a tough diddy bracket but he pulled through and that game 4 vs sonix was a heartbreaker as a tweek fan.

@@yawns3004 yeah but they can do that in a true combo, they have to guess right over and over and they have the tools for that so it feels true but its not. You can cut those combos short as a rob player if you make the right decisions.

I got to go to this tournament, it was a blast. Seeing Zomba talk all that shit and then actually back it up was pretty cool. I don't like him but this weekend he's the hero we didn't know we needed.

I think that we all need to give credit to Sonix for his amazing play in this tournament. He was really looking like the best player in the world without needing to overly rely on camping. I ended up rooting for Sonix against Zomba because he was truly a class act.

You forgot that Big Chungus the Steve players from Sweden traveled to Genesis as well! He did end up underpeforming losing to Larry Lurr tho :(

mvd really impressed me, he was playing better at this tournament than ak at any tournament I'e ever watched ( maybe I haven't watched enough?), his grenades was what stood out to me the most, it's definetely something he has over ak, I haven't watched nearly enough hurt sets to compare with him but very impressive stuff from him

Imagine how MKLeo fans felt when Leo placed at 25th.

Top 8 at Genesis was the Top 8 we've been missing-- no fighter's pass 2, only one Sonic. Zomba's run was completely insane. He was my #3 choice (behind Light and SHADIC) to take the tournament, so overall I'm glad he won! The smack talk was pretty cringe, not going to lie, but he's hype so I'm willing to let it slide. I hope he becomes #1 in the world.

I wish he wasn’t trash talking so much (unless it’s mutual) but I am glad to see zomba win.

Not gonna lie. I’m so happy zomba shook the rankings up and kicked sonix and spargo butt (notice he didn’t play any Japanese players whom he owes his newfound powers to). It’s about time he shines as best US player and get a sponsor!

Zomba thinks that ROB wins the Steve matchup. I think it's justified: ROB breaks blocks easily, arguably has bigger disjoints than Steve, comparable frame data, projectiles and can avoid Steve's ledgetrapping by flying over everything.

It’s like everyone forgot how to play against ROB.

I've never been on the shadic hype train but he did prove me wrong this time, that said he refused to have his match against gluto be on stream and for that reason I don't like him, not only will I not believe in him, I will be praying for his downfall and cheer against him every match from now on, even if it's steve ( if he's ever on stream which should not be the case very often since he doesn't want to)

It's not just that. Shuton and KEN missing top 8, Umeki having a really bad run, Yaura losing early because of two heartbreaking game 5 last hit sets, and Kaninabe and Hero also underperformed. Neo was seeded lower than seven other of the Japanese invaders and he was the highest placing at this event with his 5th place.

Raflow is a top 40 player and has been looking like he deserves a higher ranking these past few months. It's not that crazy that he'd beat Miya. Titan is unranked and I doubt anyone in this comment section knew who he was before.

Zomba is nothing like leffen let me explain. Zomba talks shit maybe to gather attention. This also makes the game a bit more hype is kinda like post fights in boxing and ufc where fighters stir the pot. Making it a little intriguing to watch. Notice how zomba always shakes people hands even after he talks shit still showing respect. Leffen in the other hand is just plain toxic. He gets involve in people life outside the game making false accusations. Some incriminating and some that involve harassing. The other thing about leffen is that when he losses he becomes a cry baby. To the point that he wants that player ban or he wants rules to be set in the game of a limit perhaps of how many times a player should jump. Conclusion Zomba just talks shit to push his villain character without hurting people. I would like to your thoughts do you agree with this comment?

gluto should have lost every single set he played in top 64, he did not play like a top 5 player, kola had him beat game 4 and decided to air dodge down instead of up b, fall after him and win the set, and mvd missed an up air confirm game 5 that would have killed Aside from me being mad as a european cause gluto played like really bad all day long, europe still got a few upsets with the most notable ones being raflow beating miya, flow beating hero and bassmage, fendeavor over kurama(how?) and oryon beating shirayuki, that and there were 10 eu players in top64 ( 6 french) so overall a good event for europe I've noticed this a while ago but bloom doesn't perform well anymore, at some point he looked like europe's next big thing and second best player but raflow has consistently been the same or better than him and sisqui is more likely to get top 8 even though samus has roadblocks such as olimar and bayo ( though yaura beat bloom at the prelocal and I wouldn't be surprised if sisqui studies the vod enough to be a bit more competitive next time) Weird thing happened, raflow beat miya but not maister, I feel like people are sleeping on maister way too much, I've felt that way for a long time as well, he is very much capable of making top 8 at any event and I'd argue he's better at certain aspects of the game than miya, notably neutral which is less important than advantage, thus miya being better than him overall,if maister implemented miya's way of ledgetrapping he could become very scary It was one of the best top 8 in a while ( surprising, it might have to do with the fact that there was no steve and gnw, naaah, couldn't be ), refreshing to see tea make it this far after so long though props to tweek for beating him, especially in that mu, didn't think he would win, also zomba was playing so well, it felt like everything was working for him, even against sonix he played so fast it didn't even feel like sonic was the faster character

Yes acola’s superior defense can disarm zomba’s offense. Miya GnW is already a bad matchup for any Rob. Zomba does well against super aggressive players as he tends to out aggress them so he consistently beats US and Mexico players

ROB is one of Steve's worst matchups, right behind Sonic, Cloud and Min Min. If Zomba plays like he played at this event, Acola is likely to lose.
