Oh, this is a bad idea, just like several of the energy cards. I do love energy decks and curious if they can carve out a place in in the mana. This easily goes infinite with the elephant from the Kaladesh block, Greenbelt Rampager. Any enters or leaves the battle field payoff alongside this and the elephant and its game over without instant removal. Should be able to be done on turn 3 fairly easily. Can't wait to see if that can become a thing if there are enough other energy role players in the set along side the Kaladesh energy cards.

@QuarantinedCapricorn it definitely isn't. Look how at its written. It's the symbol instead of the word. If we put another keyword like "life" there instead, it literally would be pay life equal to its mana cost, not 1 life.

If they wanted you to pay E equal to mana cost, they'd have written it like "By paying a number of E equal to it's converted mana value". Nowhere on this card is CMC mentioned except in that the cards cast for free must be CMC 3 or less. It's worded in the same way as almost any free cast/alternate cost in the game. TLDR: You're wrong bro.

@@Hannibalhd1 judge here. You’ll only pay 1 energy rather than the mana cost. The card is would have to specifically clarify paying energy equal to converted mana cost in order for the card to play how you’re thinking it plays. Your life gain argument would be true if a life gain card said “pay x life equal to mana cost”. In this sense, it’d be “you may pay 1 life rather than pay mana costs”. This is pay 1 energy, cast cmc 3 or less. Broken.
