The "low oil pressure" warning was probably because your oil temps were far too high for just 5w30 to handle. Next time maybe try 15w50 racing oil or at LEAST 10w40. Keeps its viscosity at really high temps, like on a turbo car when you're cruising at 130+!!

If you are driving a lot faster than traffic people see you but misjudge how fast you're coming up on them. This is one of the main reasons speeding causes accidents. On the Autobahn people are used to it, so its less dangerous. With trucks the blind spot is mostly on the right side.

That's usually a sign of cam bearings going out when a car will only lose pressure or have the low oil pressure light come on while idling at stoplights stop signs etc. something to do with the engines lower Rpms not being capable of maintaining the needed oil pressure with the out of tolerance cam bearing clearances or wear
@gtjack9

Awesome story, I had a Taurus SHO and it was one of my favorite cars. Tuned that thing flew and held its own against a lot of other cars you’d think were faster. People definitely move for you on the highway too. Awesome idea to use that for the cannonball.
In my younger days I several times drove at insanse speeds. I was on a new stretch of interstate that hardly anyone used and was going 85 mph in a 70 mph. Of course I see a city cop coming the other direction and decided to go for it. I sped up to 165, which was the max my car would do and pegged the speedo. My father had been following me and said the officer never turned on his light, but made a u-turn and probably did 80 or 90 mph then took the first exit.
What a testament to the Ford Taurus. I have a 2016 3.5L NA with 166,000 miles on it. The only thing I have ever had to replace was a right front wheel bearing. The car was still under the factory warranty. My car has only seen 110 mph a few times, very briefly though.
Bridgestone is a good sponsor. Their tires are actually good. You know who sells shitty tires? Toyo.
That broken dipstick wasn't his fault actually. I've only broken a couple dipsticks and they've all been from that same era Ford V6. They just didn't use a heat resistant plastic.
It was probably the Colorado State Patrol, and they were probably clocking someone else. I get literally 2+ minutes of warning time with my V1 (version 2) out east in Colorado.

I have an idea for how to make a cannonball record. Use a Class C or Class A RV with extra extra gas. Mod it to have dual controls, like some people do for post office Jeeps. They say that it's the stops that mess with your time. So, if you don't need a fuel stop, and if you have beds and a bathroom in the vehicle, and if you have dual controls to let drivers swap off without even a second of having no one behind the wheel, it seems like you wouldn't need to stop at all, so you should be able to get a great run.

@@patrickdahm6822 if you run at 80 nonstop that’s like a 36 hour run I think is you got to be up over a 100 average so there’s times when you will have to run along at 110-120 for hours I just think it’s asking a lot of a motor to go that pulling that kind of weight
6:16 That is not a frieghters blind spot. They could see you JUST FINE... If they looked. In most vehicles, Including commercial freight, The only blind spots if you have your mirrors adjusted correctly is JUST behind you and JUST infront of you.
question from someone only mildly educated on the whole cannonball run thing: Wouldn´t a Diesel make way more sense since they easily use around a third less fuel compared to gasoline cars? And also, wouldn´t a smaller sized engine, like let´s say a 2L oder 3L as opposed to a V8 also be way better? German Diesels still easily go 250 and upwards while having a still extremely good MPG compared to gas ones. for example, a BMW 430d will have around 38 MPG while still able to easily cruise at 280

Diesels do not have good fuel economy cruising at these speeds. Engine load is too high. For the really elite runs the fuel stops don't really matter anyway. The top guys have someone with a fuel trailer and a high flow pump meet them somewhere and are stopped less than 5 minutes.

@@Swiggityswagger have you driven any modern diesel at those speeds? I drove with a friends 430d, it cruises at 200 km/h with below 10l/100km Thanks to the ZF 8 speed automatic, the rpm isn’t that high actually. (Guess i should mention that i‘m german and thus this is pretty normal.)

You would also have the advantage of being able to use the truck pumps to fill a custom fuel cell much faster. I'm not planning on doing a cannonball run but if I were it would be in a BMW diesel, or maybe even diesel swap a Ford Explorer and dress it up to look cop-ish.
Cruise set at 130mph for two hours...*Whew! Question: Is it legal to display red/blue lights *if you don't use them?*

Retired police officer here and I can say that in the two states where I worked that just having the lights isn’t illegal. Alabama criminal code: “A person commits the crime of impersonating a peace officer if he falsely pretends to be a peace officer and does any act in that capacity.”

As long as you don't drive with them on in public roads it should be fine. Private roads or parked and lit up for display is fine.

It totally depends on the state.
As a '15 SHO owner - YES!
I did it in 37 hours in my '64 New Yorker December 23-25 ChrIstmas Morning in 1976 , Solo ! Weed California to Garnerville NY December 23 to December 25.
I used to love the Potenza RE92!
I have an SHO - I've flown by cops quite a few times and they've never approached me or batted an eye.
Before ELDs, truck drivers have been breaking coast to coast records daily. Me: jersey city, Nj to Bakersfield, Ca = about 40 hours

That's about a 71 mph average, that's pretty good for a 18 wheeler.
One of the greatest untapped resources for Cannonball is a guy named Jon Rock - he also happens to be the author of Death by Socialism. Rock posted a non-stop (stopping only for gas) 40-hour solo cross-country run back in 2015. I’d love to see him on one of these teams.
Cool build. Nice job guys
Congratulations and congratulations!!
Photo @ 5:47 was taken on Mountain Lion Dr in Loveland, CO. That’s a Breeze Thru Car Wash in the background across the street from Mountain View High School.
All this could make for a pretty sick movie if filmed right.
Congratulations ... Well done!
Black or white OR blue for the police disguise
Cannonball micro records, I like it
The Taurus SHO front grille looks really nice.
green river-salina is just 108 miles of just desert land I live in salina pretty cool he mentioned our little utah town
Another gr8 real life story. Can't make this stuff up. Keep this channel going 👏
I'm genuinely surprised no one else thought of this. It's crossed my mind ever since i heard about the disguised Audi
I'm still surprised nobody has attempted this with a Caprice or Chevy SS, well maybe they have and failed, but that would be my choice.
Chris "rocks".... Love the IT add
I have a 2013 Chevy Impala 9c1 white in color. Before I changed the wheels and took the pit bar off the front I could go anywhere and most cops actually waved to me as I blew past them stopped in the middle or on the right while on the freeway doing around 85-90. Its a strange thing.
You should try for the fastest non-stop cannonball record next.
I hate to tell you this... That semi totally seen you
