Mine just came today! 🎉 I’ve been wanting a laser for four years, and did a lot of research, including the Glowforge and the Xtool M1. I finally settled on a Thunder Nova 24, but really didn’t have the room for it. As soon as I learned about the new Bolt, I ordered it right away! Looking forward to more Bolt videos from you!

Two things - That is the best vent ever! I've had mine for over a year and it's perfect. Such a great company too. We bought a second one for our Mira. Also, at the 6:13 minute count, I was hitting the file. button on my Ruida controller just as your Thunder Bolt started beeping and it scared the living daylights out of me! I thought it was my machine beeping like crazy at me! LOL

I love the look of this laser and the possibility of different projects I can wait to see your videos so I can learn more and make the big jump 👏🏼😉🤍 I really want one and I keep just watching videos to make my final decision 🎉. And looks like you have John working hard 💪🏼🏋🏻😄

I would love more videos on this desktop laser! I was looking into the GlowForge or XTool because we are currently renting our home. So I don’t have the privilege of having a massive machine in our garage with the appropriate hookups and venting. I figured a desktop option would give me a good head start. Maybe once we finally buy our own home again, I can upgrade. 😉 I’m wondering if it can do almost all of the same things as the bigger machines. Like clear acrylic and wood. I can’t wait to see how it works with engraving tumblers.

It’s basically the size of the GlowForge bed. It looks like it will hold the tumbler accessory. This will give the GlowForge big competition. I like the Bolt. 😊

If you find using keys for every panel on your larger machines to be an annoyance, you might consider swapping out the locks for thumb turn cam latches. Just have to match the current cam lock cylinder diameter and length. Then its just a simple twist, no fumbling with keys.

Since you have the machines already what drew you to getting this one? More options or smaller Size??

What do you have? I'm comparing at the moment. I know I want to engrave metal water bottles and tumblers to start and am confused about some capabilities. (For example, a laser might show a tumbler in the video thumbnail, come with a rotary attachment, but on the website it will say "not for use on metals")

How does it compare to a CO2 DC laser? 30W seems quite low, but the spot is 3 times smaller (same as diode lasers have).

Just wondering the time it takes to do the mug.

The quality of the engrave is incredible! Also it’s a master of leatherette!

Is that a Thunder Bolt or Thunder Bolt Plus? I am really interested in upgrading to a thunder bolt from my glowforge and trying to decide between the standard Bolt and the Bolt Plus.

Very interested in doing some research on this. I was looking into glowforge or xtool to possibly invest in within the next year but I’m scared of getting the wrong thing. I make wood and acrylic earrings and would love to be able to cut my own pieces but also branch into some other things.

Glowforge requires Chinese internet active all the time. Does not use industry stanard sw. Lsupport sucks. Internet down? So is your business

Looks like a nice machine. I do find it interesting that it was only out for a few months and the price went up 10%. Doesn’t sound like a big deal, except it is. It was a $500 hike. OUCH!

just after launch the terroprist activity in the area surrounding the red sea and Suez canal meany all shipping costs were hiked, up, Not thunderlasers fault, the pirate activity hiked up shipping by more than 10%, but even at $5500 its still better value and a better machine than those costing double,

Love the video, thinking of getting one. But can you tell me how loud it is? I live in a townhome and if I'm venting to the outside, will the neighbors hear it when the window is open? Stupid HOA rules against noise so hoping it's not super loud like a bigger Thunder is. Thanks!

I would recommend to find out exactly what your rules are for your HOA. There are a lot of them who do not allow additional items sticking out of the windows, especially with this needing to vent . They may frown upon this, and if you end up doing it with out their knowledge, you can be heavily fined each time it is brought to their attention. And trust me there are plenty of HOA snoopers who specialize in making people be miserable. Just don’t want you to be into trouble with them.

This is why I refuse to live in an HOA, getting more and more difficult though. It's a stupid problem

Have you cut 1/4" wood or acrylic? My concern is that it's going to be slow or require multiple passes.

Yes I do cut 1/4 wood only and it cuts great! Haven't tried acrylic yet.

If you plan on scaling and making a business out of it, I would go bigger. If you plan on using it for hobby/smaller items I would go with the bolt 😊

It has an RF tube, a very small laser spot size, a great and powerful exhaust fan, a very safe enclosure, and is built like a tank... for significantly less money than a Glowforge. Also Lightburn compatible, no special software requirements. That changes the game quite a bit as far as Desktop lasers go.

Oh no, the vent is no longer available!

Do you feel like your business is easier to run now that you have your thunders? As far as less work with painting and what not.

The thunders are kind of like employees, so yes it helps with workflow but we still stay pretty busy due to volume of orders, painting, and packaging! 😊

This is reasonable for an RF Laser, it would be pricey if it had a glass tube.

you must be an idiot if you think that this RF laser is overpriced, clearly no idea of the cost of an RF tube, plus the quality of this machine, Thunderlasers solid reliablity, I would buy one if it were double that cost

Can the crumb tray easily slide completely out of the Thunder Bolt? I’m curious if a PiBurn Grip chuck rotary can be used on the very bottom of the compartment with the honeycomb and crumb trays removed. I want to engrave the side of a large wood bowl I made in my shop on a wood lathe. The bowl would be mounted sideways in the rotary chuck.
