Frankel's most impressive feature, at least to me, was the frightening ease when asked that he could go from zero to see you the fuck later on an entire field and leave you wondering if you'd actually just seen what you thought you'd seen or not. A machine!

For me this is by far Frankel's best win, st nick and farhh 7 lengths behind on the bridal is absolutely ludicrous! They were incredibly good horses and Frankel blew them away with ease. He was a real freak of nature and getting better with age, he was the perfect race horse at 4.

That was the horse of a lifetime. Well done Tom and Henry.

People forget that on FRANKELS debut he won his first race in work like fashion, just behind him was indeed the brilliant Nathanial who went on to win top class races including the King George at Ascot, the mind boggles!!!!!

For about 5 seconds Joseph O'Brien thought "I've got this" , then it all went pear shaped Frankel just kept getting better and better , goodness what he would have done as a 5 year old

True , along w/ the prospect of trying 12F, something Brigadier Gerard did as a 4 yr old after stomping every 1 @ 8F, & passing the 10F test in the Eclipse.. Meantime Joseph being confident w/ a colt far below Frankel's talent level was less than 5 secs, lol ; St.NA was a decent horse , won here in the US , but nowhere near in class 2 the Falbrav, MONTJEU, Singspiel , SWAIN, H.Chaparral, Dubai M ,& all time great types ; Frankel destroyed lower level G1 winners that aren't as good as the aforementioned, as well a superstar should ; Nathaniel was probably the best horse he faced ; It's the same here in the US w/ A.Pharoah , Rachel A / superstar types whose accomplishments are boosted w/ people " trumping up " their competition 2 be better what it actually is ; The proper assessment is, like other greats is, he went undefeated , against decent / less than A- Level type G1 winners, but performed in a manner that would suggest , based on numbers he could compete & beat the all time greats ; U could put a question mark on any of the horses past greats beat ; some thought Blakeney wasn't a good Derby winner when pitted against Nijinsky in the KG VI & QE D Stakes.. Usually when good ones are pitted against each other like Singspiel SWAIN , Helissio, Pilsudski, Peintre Celebre, Bosra Sham , etc, it's harder 2 dominate , which is often overlooked ; Would Frankel have been unbeaten against the better horses ? Perhaps , but it gets harder when u stack the greats in a Legends Race , but the key is he beat , or better yet , destroyed what was in front of him , and he did it quite well

@@icildatugman6732 There's lots of lower end G1 Winners ; tons of them here in the US & abroad ; I do think NATHANIEL was the best of his opponents & a decent horse overall ; in the end, the more "proper" assessment is , he's unbeaten , didn't defeat the greatest of foes , but he dominated in a manner that would suggest he could have beaten any of the greats ; Its the same 4 American Pharoah & horses of the like 2 have their opposition " trumped up" 2 be better than what they are ..His rivals weren't born in the wrong year , based on numbers they wouldn't have won Classic races in ANY YEAR based on AP's Derby effort where he had 2 be hit 32 times on fast going in a Final Time that wasn't good enough 2 win the majority of Kentucky Derbies .. Those are variables one must consider ; I get it, some people are too biased , just like folks here in the US that think American horses are " un - conditionally " Better than UK / Euro runners , which I don't think is always or in many cases a correct viewpoint

@@icildatugman6732 I think you're right on Part A, w/ CDA , & the 20 G1's aren't a complete fluke & CC was decent b4 the "freaky one" ran him into retirement, but G1's can often be an inflated calling card , and these horses aren't in the class of SUAVE DANCER, SWAIN, Pilsudski, ST Stars, Alleged, Brigadier Gerard & about two dozen others I could name drop ; DANSILI never won a G1, but he's a BETTER horse than Excelebration w/ all his G1's ; Why ? Because he faced the likes of Kalanisi , Sendawar, & the mighty Giant's Causeway along w/ War Chant in the B. Cup ; The likelihood of Frankel smashing the really good ones decreases , especially w/ added distance , but w/ Excel & the rest, it was a paid public workout ; Blowouts just don't happen when really good horses lock horns , like High Chaparral in the Irish Champion vs ISILINGTON , Falbrav & ALAMASHAR in 03 , but when it happens it's 4 the reasons I stated ; WORKFORCE won the Derby in record time, went on 2 win the Arc, but he & Cape Blanco , the G1 Irish Derby G1 winner got their horseshoes ripped apart by HARBINGER by 11 lengths ; CB was chewed by the press from Day 1 of his career , and in the end they were right ; nice horse , but he wasn't a " true " G1 type ; and it can be argued the only reason WF won in Paris was because Harbinger wasn't there ; w/ Excel he was a G1 winner by default ; Frankel wasn't there and when he was he wasn't competitive enough against the "Freaky One " 2 say otherwise ; and that's w/ o counting the 11 length trouncing in the Q. Anne ; u pose the DANSILI angle 2 a reasonable handicapper and I'll guarantee they'll say , that's a great point , never thought about that while getting caught up in the hoopla ; we over- rated his G1 status it's been often said Frankel made G1 winners look like mere mortals ; the reality is they were mere mortals w/ G1's attached 2 their name ; and Henry Cecil knew it ; I don't blame him one bit ; he said 2 himself maybe not literally, but figuratively , damn , it's rare 2 be able 2 go down the "path of least resistance" @ the G1 level w/ G3 or below rivals and pile up Group 1's , even after having "0" 2 prove @ 8F ; and u can debate as 2 when that moment arrived ; I would say after beating CC in the Sussex , but , we might as well win the QE II ; nice race 2 win , and even nicer when u know the only killer in the race is your horse

I forgot just how good he was. I now live in the US and I know there are racing fans over here who think he's not that good all because he didn't come over to the BC Mile against Wise Dan...My opinion they wouldn't have seen which way Frankel went. Greatest horse I've ever witnessed

I'm also from the US, and like many. the great ones usually overwhelm the average and make them look less than average , like Rachel A did , @ least from a standpoint of her female rivals who weren't very good ; Hard to accurately rate US vs UK horses given the primary surfaces are different , but from a UK / Euro angle , Frankel beat what was in front of him w/ o opening any doors 4 an upset , but 2 some people's shock & surprise, I rank a few others higher than him ; Great horse no doubt ; unfortunately we didn't get the answer 2 the question Wise Dan

@@jamespage6628 I would agree that Frankel thrives 2 equal or greater effect on flat US / Canadian turf 2 defeat WD ; the truer measuring stick 4 UK / Euro vs US horses is A ; taking on the "dirt devils" on the primary surface or vice versa, which never happens ; a top horse here in the US trying grass , flat or undulating .. if those things happened , we'd get a truer line on who's best ; can a US horse adapt 2 an English style course is a question I'd like to see answered ; and likewise w/ any top European running on dirt ; Be great 2 choose a select series of 3.4 or more top races vs just the Breeders Cup ; U can't expect every top UK horse 2 focus on it given the timing , the travel, in this case being way out West ( @ Del Mar CA ) & the importance of the Arc & Champions Day cards

@frankie and lola U don't even have 2 touch on any of the Triple Crown winners in order 2 find a better horse and / or one that could beat him even @ his top trip (8F), be it a HOLY BULL or GOSTZAPPER & a long list of burners; the "X Factor" is surface; Could Frankel be as good or better on dirt & how many US horses could be effective on turf? Of course, there are quite a few US grass runners that would give need 2 leave the UK 2 find a "near" or true great 2 beat him, but no 1 in Britain will dare 2 dig that deep, because every 1's minds are made up, hence there's no need, especially w/ the adjusted Timeform numbers that lowered a few of the better horses; @ sum point, I'll dissect it in further detail, via Podcast; Meantime, I gave him high praise 4 his accomplishments on VOL 2 of my UK Racing Superstars Series, (1991-2021) featuring his sire GALILEO, Available @ Y. Best horse your ever see

The great magnificent FRANKEL, reached a top rating of 147 alongside Justify, but should have been the top racehorse outright in history, as his racing speed was faster than any other horse, and remained unbeaten in 14 top class races,

This was his best run. The Guineas looked good against poor opposition in a slow time, but this against St Nicholas Abbey was pure class. A monster performance.

The Guineas frankel ran the first 5f quicker than any sprint race on the card that day. To think he won still by 6l is an amazing feat over the mile.

As you may know, Juddmonte and Coolmore have alternate picks over which yearling to own when Juddmonte mares are sent to Coolmore stallions and vice versa. So it is not impossible that Frankel could have been trained by Aidan O'Brien. So what do you think would have happened if Frankel had been trained by O'Brien?

Probably not as brilliant as it was historically, or simply would have been retired once finishing racing career as a 3yo, making such a legendary story never written.

The beatings this horse handed out to Coolmore horses was hilarious.

Such a perfect machine and don't know why some people still think he cannot stay a mile and half. From day one I saw him I knew a star emerged who could definitely stay. So poorly ridden in the Guineas and could still win in such a manner was phenomenal but the "speed" that released from the rider in the early stage unfortunately confused the specialists to look down on his stamina and ended career without a try on a longer distance.

You can only hold a horse up so much as it will waste more energy pulling than running faster. Which is why you often see horses tugging away and running poorly. A lot has been said about the jockey he never lost on him. That's all that matters I've seen plenty like Frankie stuff it up on a great horse but lose.

Sir Henry Cecil was a genius. Any other trainer would have got Frankel beat at some point or gelded him and put him over hurdles. Cecil had the love and understanding for his horses like no other. Absolute legend

How easy..... should have run in The Arc

IMO, Frankel won this one effectively all by himself instead of having Bullet Train to make the pace, since such position was taken by those of Ballydoyle during the race, which made his own pacemaking became useless. Therefore, TBH, those guys sticking to claim he won only with pacemaker can shut up.

Not his trip but he did it so easily against good horses.

frankel was decent but pyledriver really takes the biscuit and he cost peanuts. my mum could have ridden frankel and she has no legs!
