Have u eaten it before? Just came back from Nigeria, where I live part of the year. Amala , ewedu and gbegiri is popular with all , except a few fellow Igbos. I found they were resistant, until they actually tasted it. I never liked amala before either, because the one in the UK did not taste nice (imho), although my mum and sister lived it. In Nigeria its one of my top foods, I actually crave it, so I eat it almost every week. I've now been to most amala joints in Abuja lol.

Its the nature of the leaf used. It naturally has that texture, a bit similar to okra when cooked.
