I'm a huge fan of them, spoken to them on multiple occasions and I just want to tell you that you were 100% correct in your interpretation; it is about being connected, both to each other and to the universe, that's the prevailing theme in their music. It's great to see someone discover VIC and to realise how special they are, because there is truly no other band that does what they do! Welcome to the tribe 🤟 EDIT: actually one more thing! If you want to hear more of them there is a concert called Alive in Athens here on KZread, you can watch it in full and it's an amazing piece of art. These guys are fantastic in the studio but trust me, it's nothing comparing to them live! The power they have on stage is unbelievable. You should really check the live out!

That sound at the beginning are bagpipes. The band is from Epirus, Greece. The whole album is a landscape of sounds. It's definitely a vibe

Balkan or more generally Mediterranean bagpipes sound similar almost, but these are specific Greek variant of bagpipes. We Croatians, Serbs, Macedonians and Bulgarians have the similar sounding and looking instruments. Very old instrument indeed and haunting sounding.

My reaction when hearing this band for the first time: "Yes. THIS. Yes yes yes." They're absolutely amazing. Such great stoner, psychedelic rock that takes me way back in time but still feels new. I love the spiritual evolution of the song, where he starts out worshiping the sun, and by the end realizes he is the sun. Great reaction, glad you're into them!

Ioannina is a town in the north west of Greece, with great history and great beauty.The guys are from the city and they indeed are an amazing band.🔥🎶

Check out also two other amazing bands from Greece. Puta Volcano and Planet of Zeus. Greek rock scene is absolutely fantastic. Deaf Radio and 1000mods are also great. Very glad you liked this great band from my country. The instrument you re hearing there is a balkan type of bagpipe, it's called tsabouna if I m not mistaken. It's a very common instrument not only in Greece but throughout the Balkans. If you like this folk stoner rock/metal sound in general, I would suggest Dance of Night and Age of Aquarius (also by VIC) and the songs Nemecic, Kata ton Daimona Eautoy by Rotting Christ (they re not satanists don't worry, just atheists 😄). Great live band also. I have seen them 3 times in Poland and it was always a fantastic live show. Great musicianship and energy.

Cosmic Soul and Dance of Night are also masterpieces in this album. Studio versions are just perfect.

I saw the band twice live in a period of year or so. Last week was the last time. Total trance, good vibes, both from band and from audience. Transcendental experience as always. Bagpipe, kaval and clarinet solos hit as hard as usual guitar solos if not harder :) I usually like ethno/folk metal/rock mashups, especially if it has that epic old school vibe, real historic, cultural depth but not also modern in a way.

Don't understand why everyone reacts to "Father Sun"? I mean, is a great song, but I think "Dance of night" is fucking outstanding.

Hi there, thank you for putting so much reality in your words about VIC's music. Its trully amazing how the guys got to married the traditional music instruments and songs with metal music. All the instruments you heard, are typical traditional musical instruments from Greece, like bagpie, or clarino (kind of flute or clarinet), they do use even and didgeridoo. The lyrics are about Ioannina city,Epirus and in general Vikos, the mountainous area of Epirus. Is based on how people used to leave up in the mountais, with the river, the crystal clear waters away from machines. You can check out (I'm sure you've already done so, more of their songs (oldestr ones, have greek lyrics though) or more of the age of Aquarrius album.
