Leaf flute was once a very common instrument in the remote rural areas of Bangladesh, while bamboo flutes were not available that much to the common people. It is great that you guys liked it.Coke Studio Bangla has brought that ancient leaf flute to the big stage. Must appreciate them. Moreover, the sitar player here is from a popular band team in Bangladesh called "Chirkut". Truly,Coke Studio Bangla is representing the remote cultures of Bangladesh in front of the new generation of the country and the whole world.Hats off to them

The song is a representation of a conversation between Flower (the female singer's part) and Bee (the male singer's part), who are dear darlings to each other but can't meet. The flower is telling, o beloved, we blossom in sunshine throughout all seasons but you come in the evening, are you like the moon? We fell in love but we couldn't meet.' And the bee is like: 'o darling when you blossom, there is scent everywhere. Then I come to you (flower). But when I come searching for you, you are nowhere. O dear if you can't be there, why do you try to talk to me, please don't talk."

Although performed with many notable artists in his career, Mithun came to the spotlight to a wider audience through Coke Studio. Since he is not a drum set player rather his strength is regular percussion thus, any drum set components of his set up like- Kick drum and snare are also played standing up. And the guy you googled is a famous Indian film actor Mithun Chakraborty and not the same guy :p Also, Mithun took lesson from the drummer and percussionist of A R Rahman Sivamani, who also plays standing up.

In Bangladesh, the leaf flute aka patar bashi has a folkore legend of it's own. In the countryside people believe if someone plays leaf flute at fullmoon fairies desent to earth and dance to the rythem of the leaf. If the guy pleases the fairy one of his wishes gets granted but if he fails his life gets destroyed by a curse. There were many attempt to suppon fairies with leaf flutes on full moon but only few succeeded.

    Bangla is a very rich language, it has thousands of years of history and has developed over centuries. In middle ages Bengal was the richest place on earth, so people from different places came to our land for business and migration. That's how we integrated different components from different cultures including arabic, persians, afgan, europeans. That's how Bangla developed over centuries and enriched with its own value.
