    Try bag shooting, vs bipod. The groups will have a "fingerprint" like the ones you shown for bipod, and something different for bag shooting. Sometimes its the expansion of the heated barrel that changes POI (like my old stevens 200 in .223 which would shoot low and right as it heated up), but I first discovered the bipod pattern while shooting .22 PCP.

    mate, both of those groups were more than fine. that would be a fast round in the 223. i use 55gn super roo's or also known as game kings reloads. we need a bit of a solid hit in Australia for some larger animals, but work fine on foxes. nice hunting. got a call to a property where they cleaned up 16 foxes over 2 days, now need thermal an ir to get the clever ones, which is where i come in.

    As usual its a plesure to whatch yor videos. I also use the 223 40gr vmax for Fox control, it's the most accurate bullet for my Cz. I really appreciate the flat trajectory you can get with such a light bullet in the 223. On the other hand I think "50 yard runners" can happen more frequently than using the 55 grains. In a clear field you can easily track the shot fox, but when shooting near dense vegetation it can be difficult to recover it.

    Simon, I’m guessing you jump those 69 TMKs in your Sako 223. If you are, would you mind saying how far? I generally shoot flat base bullets just touching the rifling but I never could get boat-tail bullets to shoot well doing this. I’m betting you are jumping those 69 TMKs .040” or so…? Am I close?

    I had them just touching the lands Charles but to be fair but they did shoot ok even with a 50 thou jump.

    Good stuff again Simon. After a bit of advice, I’ve bought yesterday a Pard 007SP LRF , I’ve put it on the Schmidt Bender 6x42 scope that’s on my BSA R12. Had it out today for first time and finding it difficult to focus on anything below 50m and loose the cross hair. Is the scope 6x base mag too high. What would you recommend. I want to do some ratting so all be within 30m I’d think. Regards Phil

    Hiya, you’re correct in assuming your base magnification is too high. Even 4x plus the pard is a bit impractical if you’re ratting within 30m. I bought a Hawke Airmax 2-7 for this exact purpose, it’s not an expensive scope and on my pcp it’s nice and light and perfect for an add-on like the nv007. Hope this helps!

    @@kims2r Cheers, yes that’s a big help, the scope came off my .223 when I got NV for that a couple of years ago. Only got my R12 in September, it’s in FAC format and scope has been fine but nothing is usually close up. Just getting into a bit more shorter stuff and learning more about optics 👍

    Ye Phil the Pards all work better on the cheaper end scopes on the market pal and as above with the smaller the base mag the better BUT! some times if you play with the two focus settings you can get them clear even on say a Night force or Swarovski as i have in the past.

    Simon, what velocity are you shooting those 40 grain V-MAXs at in your 223? I was wondering if the rotational stress of the 8” twist barrel would pull those V-MAXs apart?

  • @simon6ppc246

    @simon6ppc246

    They are doing around 3600 at the moment Charles and believe it or not shoot under half inch at 100 yards but ye they are spinning fast out this 8 twist and do pop very easily but i like this due to hardly any ricochets and no pass throughs making the shooting a lot safer pal.
