That dress would be a big commitment. If you are all in, make sure to check your gauge every few inches while knitting because it may change! I’d go for the petroleum or the yellow. I read Unraveling- it was a fun read.

It’s definitely a huge commitment. Bought the pattern and WOW. So detailed. Think it will be worth it but it’s all about the details so just trying to decide if I am willing to stick with it.

Summer tops… frogged 3 already. Every time I start a top down with size S, by 2/3 of the garment I am ending up with size XL. Took my time with swatching both flat and in the round and found out I need to go 3 sizes down with the needle to match my gauge with portions I knitted flat. On top of that those summer yarns stretch so much that 10x10 cm swatch is just not enough to see how fabric will behave. So from 4 tops I was working on I only made one … and by pure guess mostly- went with directions for a 1 size smaller garment and 3 sizes smaller needles (than my gauge swatch)… and I know that for the future projects it will work only with this particular yarn brand I made this one with. Next project- lots of new testing before I even start working on the pattern itself.

I love the summer knits that I succeeded in because they are so nice to wear, but have definitely frogged so so many summer yarn projects! It's an art of its own compared to knitting with wool. Thanks for book recommendation, I found it in my audio book app and I will have to give a try for my first English audio book (i normally listen books only in Finnish although I watch podcasts in English).

I scraped my cami no9 for a few reasons but as much as it’s a HUGE drag, I found the edgings a little meditative. I think you can do it! But don’t force yourself, that’ll only make it more of a drag. So if it needs to sit in time out for a bit, that’s okay. Good luck!🫶🏻

I'm with you on the failed summer garments! I think it's because wool can be moulded into shape somewhat, where as plant based fibres are stiff and less forgiving, so trying to get the perfect fit is very difficult. I've had so many fails. But still keep trying :D love your podcast x

Hi Sheri! Love the Monday sweater! I use the Chiagoo Shorties for sleeves and love them so much; I find sleeves are done very quickly. No more magic loop sleeves for me (accept for maybe a cuff of a sleeve). I really like the blue options for the dress 💙.

Hi Sheri. My color choice for the dress is the petroleum blue. Love that. Makes me want to buy some. I am hoping to start a Monday sweater soon. So nice to see your progress and that you haven't really had any problems with it. Sounds encouraging. I also use Chiagoo small circulars for sleeves. When I start the sleeve (from the top down) I use fixed circulars (16"). I can get a good bit of the sleeve done with the 16" circulars before I have to switch over to 12" circulars. Goes faster for me that way.

I do try to limit the amount of knitting I do with them. Takes some getting use to. That is why always do as much as I can with the 16" ones. I also prefer the small circulars with the bent tips. They seem to be easier on my hands. @@Goodknits_

One thing to keep in mind with the cami #9 is that if you pick up 1:1 you might end up with "flaring". :( Personally I am just not that into summer knits. I don't like working with non-wool fiber, it hurts my hands a lot and I rarely find the end result to be worth the pain. I mostly just stick to sweaters and slipovers and accessories because of that.

  • @Goodknits_

Sorry to hear about your tank top. Believe me, I've been there. I put them aside for a bit until I'm feeling a desire to tackle. As per your stretched bottom ribbing, I always get stretched stitches from dropping down and picking up. You can manually even out the tension with a needle/dpn by redistributing the extra yarn on the stitches either side of the stretched stitch. hth.

I totally feel your pain on the Camisole No. 9 issues. I made mine in black and picking up those stitches was AWFUL, but so worth it. I absolutely love the finished product. I picked up 2 stitches for every 3 rows and didn't even bother to count to see if I had the right amount of stitches. Mine worked out perfectly. I took care to bind off loosely and when I sewed down the edge, I would stretch it out every few stitches to ensure my sewing yarn wasn't too tight. I really like this top and will probably make another one in the future

I invested in a set of Chiagoo shorties very early on in my garment knitting and it has been one of the best purchases. I use them for all my sleeves, no laddering, and really speeds up the time it takes to get off sleeve island. Highly recommend. I now have 2 sets but it is the blue ones I reach for most of the time.

Awwww… I’m sorry you’re feeling so discouraged about your camisole. Tanks and camisoles ARE hard. I think it’s because they’re so exacting. In a sweater you have some wiggle room with the fit. With something sleeveless and fitted, you have to be SO INCREDIBLY exact in everything… gauge, bind off, all of it! I’ve had more tanks go wrong than sweaters for sure.

Sunflower is pretty and I think would suit you color-wise but it may call out each bump and curve on your body more than a darker color would. Also, if you’re going to be self conscious in a brighter color (I would be), you probably will hesitate to wear it. The rust is also good with your complexion but doesn’t scream summer-more winter or fall. I love the petroleum with your coloring. I’d choose that if I were you. My least favorite for you is the blue. Just one opinion, of course.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who struggled with the Cami No 9. I ripped out the arm bands and put the whole thing in time out. I think I'm just going to knit them straight without the fold over, it's just to painful and annoying to do as written and I don't want to. I'm wondering about doing a lateral braid along the pickup edge, might give the look of the original without the trouble of the folded and sewn edge.
