A Molecular View of HIV Therapy
After HIV enters a T-cell, three enzymes play essential roles in the life cycle of the virus. Reverse transcriptase copies the viral RNA genome and makes a DNA copy. Integrase inserts this viral DNA into the cell’s DNA. In the last steps of the viral life cycle, HIV protease cuts HIV proteins into their functional parts.
Current antiretroviral drugs target these three enzymes, hindering the virus reproduction. However, enzymes can mutate and become drug resistant, making it vital to use a combination of different drugs that target multiple enzymes.

this was a really simple and easy to understand video. great work!
thank you. this is really helpfull
prevention is important .most expensive medicine might fail after resistance .
Brilliant
I am honestly surprised it took so long to figure out that combination therapy is the right way. It is because doctors do not think like engineers. At least most don't. I am so lucky to know a doctor who does. We speak for hours just for intellectual gain. It is wonderful to speak to one who really gets it. Now we have PeP and PreP. IMHO we should engineer body cells to make their own Truvada and other defenses. Meanwhile we got a ton of naysayers trying to convince us to fail. Get it: WE WON"T GIVEUP.

Most drugs have side effects. So does Truvada

@@Apodeipnon he prolly doesn't know how genetic engineering works let's leave him be lmao

I think this is a great idea albeit a bit risky. Wouldn't it be nice if we could engineer the gut flora inside our body to make those PrEP molecules?
This can be interpreted as the highest form of nanorobotics.
All the money wasted on this, and look what happened
prevention. don't do the gay thing.
