A modern classic EDC knife got premium upgrades! Demko AD-20.5

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

When I reviewed the Demko AD 20.5 back then, it was a basic steel and basic pivot and basic handle. Well that all changed, and now everything is better. Now we get some nice cosmetic upgrades, better handle material and premium steel. In this video you'll see it compared to other Andrew Demko designs like the AD-15, the Ocaso Solstice, the Cold Steel Espada XL, and the Spyderco Para Military 2.

Personally, I've bumped, but haven't crossed, the $150 line (yet). I use, abuse, and lose knives, and, as such, typically carry a sub-$20 Kershaw Mixtape (love that knife, btw). But, I respect and appreciate those willing to buy premium knives, because those folks are who finance new technology, making bargain knives so much better in the process. Everyone has their use case, respect and support that, and we can continue to have a wonderful community.

I think you really nailed it (batoned it?) with the smaller companies having more hurdles than we know. It’s very easy to complain when there is no skin in the game or we don’t have a full picture of what’s going on behind the scenes. And there is always a “behind the scenes,” for any person, company or entity imho. I appreciate that sentiment about things and I think you nailed it. And I also have a few guns, but I don’t ever tell anyone that they can “buy a gun for that price!” As my customs are handmade and art that I can use, and my guns are all collectible pieces that I also use or compete with in uspsa- but I know that there is a price for a machine made gun from a factory and there is a price that I pay for someone’s time spent with handwork and refined skill. It’s a completely different animal imho. I love guns but I spend more on my custom knives because I can use them and pull them out to show my friends and not get arrested. It screeches in my ears when I hear another gun guy say that about knives and it really puts it into perspective as to how much they might not understand about the process of making a gun, compared to making a knife, and especially at the custom knife level.

Just making the knife easier to like. The AUS10A was pretty good already but I got the S35VN also and it feels a bit nicer with the g10 but equal with fit and finish. I am glad he is giving people all the options.

Good review. I was going to leave a cutting but witty reply but I dropped my bag of peanuts and I have to pick them all up before the racoons with their dexterous paws get here. They can be trained by the government to plant tracking devices on or IN you. But all in all a good review.

I never had an issue with grivory as a material itself, but that 20.5 handle was probably the most uncomfortable knife to hold in my collection. I had to throw some micarta on there. Also, at the risk of being an annoying twat, any updates on a release date for the stump lifter?

You very skillfully avoided the topic of the full size AD20 market, understandably so. I don't think I've had a harder time tracking down any other knife. Took me over a year to find a slotted slicer at a reasonable price. No shortage of Ti slicers on ebay, of course the scumbag scalpers are all asking $1,000+. I hope science creates a way to punch people through the internet someday.

You also have to talk to me like I'm a toddler and make sure to point directly at everything, while making random noises or slamming something every two seconds. Also I noticed you weren't playing a video game in the bottom half of your video. I hope you can take this criticism to improve your channel. Think you.
